Continuing on from yesterdays post: Our first night in New York was pretty rocky, we had quite a bad subway experience due to construction and it took us an hour and half to get to our hotel. However, we still went out that night to see Times Square at night. Then, we started fresh Sunday morning with a trip to the 911 Memorial, Wall Street, Battery Park, The Statue of Liberty, Soho, Greenwich Village, The Empire State Building, and Times Square. Needless to say, it was a very busy day that ended with ice cream and soft pretzels for dinner in Times Square.
Monday morning we slept in until almost ten o’clock, and then went to see Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue and Central Park before heading to the U.S. Open Finals. I got Kevin tickets for our Anniversary and we were both super excited to go to the U.S. Open for the 1st time, not to mention the finals. It really was the best experience of the whole trip. The grounds were beautiful and it was just such a cool experience. After the finals were over, we were walking back to the subway and noticed the lights were on at Citi Field (where the Mets play). Naturally, we decided to walk over and see what inning the game was in – after finding out it was only the 2nd inning, we bought tickets and walked straight in the Mets Game from the Open. It was a VERY fun night filled with sports.
Tuesday was another day filled with sites and sports. We started by seeing Grand Central Station and the United Nations Building. After that, we did some shopping on 5th Avenue and found a really cool Nintendo store we stayed in for a while. I think it convinced us we need a WiiU now. We both had no idea how fun they are! After shopping, we headed up to Yankee Stadium for a game. It was a really good game and really fun to see Yankee Stadium and experience a ball game there. It was a late night Tuesday night, so we slept in on Wednesday and then headed to Joe’s Pizza for lunch and then back down to Times Square to end our trip. Overall, we had an amazing vacation! I loved getting to go back to Washington D.C. for a third time and see New York for the 1st time.
