How To Have A Cheap Parents Only Date Night

Being a mom of a one year old means that I don’t have many moments for me. I am constantly picking up toys, changing diapers or chasing Brooke around the house. Don’t get me wrong, I love every second of it, but I can count on one hand the number of date nights Kevin and I have had since she was born. We really don’t mind that much, because we love hanging out with our friends and having date nights at home after Brooke goes to bed. Here is a cute way to have a cheap, parents ONLY date night at home.

The first thing I did was send Kevin a text and let him know that I had a surprise for him when he got home. I love sending texts like that, so he can get excited for something special that night. I try to mix it up a little bit each time to keep the surprise element.

Next, I headed to Walmart to pick up a yummy treat and movie. This is normally a really cheap, fun date night, however, right now, it is even cheaper! This is also a perfect excuse to buy 2 flavors of ice cream. Kevin and I can share a pint of ice cream, however, it was great to grab two different flavors. I picked two flavors we don’t typically get to mix it up a little bit and be adventurous. The strawberry wasn’t super adventurous for us, but the butter pecan flavor was and I really liked it.

Once I grabbed all of the items I needed, I headed home and created a fun bag of snacks along with a card to have on the kitchen table waiting for him. I normally leave Kevin notes on the door into the house so he sees them right before he walks in the door, but I loved clipping it to his snacks.

We highly enjoyed our time together and I loved just having a moment for me. Its nice to unwind once Brooke is in bed and just focus on each other. I think we both use that time to refresh and really enjoy our time with just the two of us.
