As soon as I found out I was pregnant the first time, worry flooded in like crazy. Had I already eaten the wrong things? Taken the wrong medicine? My mind constantly worried. Pregnancy can be one of the best times in your life, but also some of the hardest. You may have your most worry ever during pregnancy, have your worst fears, or even your greatest anxiety. Prayer helped me combat these feelings so much during my first pregnancy, and even though I am a lot more relaxed this pregnancy, prayer has been an anchor for me as well. Here are a few things that you can pray during pregnancy:
Baby’s Health
You can pray for your baby’s health. It amazes me how much a baby grows each day. Just the human mind alone is so complex, and your baby is being perfectly knit together. You can pray and thank God for all of their little fingers and toes. You can pray for their development and that would be completely healthy.
Your Health
You can thank God for the health that you have had so far. You can pray for an concerns that you have or if you are having any issues with the pregnancy. I know with my first pregnancy, I had really low progesterone, so that was a big prayer and with this new baby, I have had a lot more pregnancy symptoms like fatigue and nausea. You can pray for strength for your body to carry your sweet baby and for endurance to get through the 40 weeks.
Against Worry
This one is a big one for me. Kevin really helps keep me grounded on this one, but I always have a lot of prayer against worry and fear. I have done a lot better this time with not being so strict about my diet or constantly worrying about the pregnancy, but I have still had my days. Ask God for help if this is a big area for you as well. Pray for peace and knowledge.
Baby’s Heart
It is never to early to pray for your baby’s heart and salvation. Pray that they would grow up to know and love God. Pray that you would be a good example for them and help guide them, but that you now ultimately, it is up to God. Pray for grace for them and for their little heart.
Baby’s Future
Pray for your baby’s future. This is a very vast topic. You can pray for the friends they will have, their future spouse, their school adventures, their joys… there are so many different areas you can pray about. You can pray that they would be kind, loving and graceful. You can pray that they would grow big and strong. Just pray for them.
Your Doctor
Wisdom for your doctor is a great thing to pray. Pray that your doctor would be knowledgeable, prepared and the perfect doctor for you and your baby. Pray that they would be diligent in their work and successful.
Your Labor/Delivery
This can be a big area of worry for sure. I know before my first labor and delivery, I was extremely worried about what it would be like. Thankfully, I had a great experience with Brooke and now my prayer is that this second baby would go just as smooth. Every baby is different, every labor, every delivery. I just pray for strength, wisdom for doctors, and an easy/quick delivery.
Your Family
Your family plays a big role in your baby’s life. Pray that your baby would fit right in with your family. If they have siblings, pray that God would prepare them for their new role. I know that I pray for Brooke in becoming a sister. I pray that she would be caring, a good sharer and they would be best friends. I pray that she would fully feel our love for her and never doubt it for a second.
Your Parenting
Lastly, but not least, you can pray for your parenting. I fully believe that every child is different, thus your parenting should be different at times. I don’t quite know what to expect with this second baby yet as far as parenting goes, but I do know that we are the perfect parents for this baby. God picked us. I pray that we would be observant, kind, slow to anger and loving.
I’m sure that there are things I have missed, but I hope this helps you with things you can pray during pregnancy. I would love to hear about anything else you pray for during pregnancy, just leave me a comment!

I love the idea of praying for your parenting, something you don’t think too much about when you’re pregnant but should do!
