Since I started Simply Clarke over 4 years ago, prayer has been one of my most talked about subjects in terms of marriage. I have written countless posts surrounding praying for your spouse and your marriage, but today it was really on my heart to just ask you, do you pray for your marriage? I completely believe in the power of prayer over a marriage. I have seen countless lives and marriages transformed with prayer and of course, the grace of Jesus.
Maybe your answer is NO, I don’t pray for my marriage. Maybe you don’t really know how to pray for your marriage, or what to pray. Maybe you are angry with your spouse or with your marriage and just don’t want to pray. Maybe you’re angry with God and don’t want to pray at all. I don’t know the “why” behind your “NO”. Its just “No”.
Or, maybe your answer is “Yes”, yes I pray for my marriage. But maybe, just maybe, you want to pray more. Maybe you want to pray different or somehow deeper. Maybe you feel like you keep praying the same thing. I’m not sure where each of you are at.
But….you are here.
So, I want to encourage you! Start today. Start right after you finish this post, or even right now. It might be hard at first, it might bring tears, but I promise, it will be worth it. You just have to start and I have laid out some steps for How To Pray For Your Marriage Daily. This post shares how I “structure” my prayers most of the time when praying for my marriage. It really walks you through how to pray if you aren’t sure where to start. But, of course, this is not the only way to pray. There is no “right” way to pray, it is simply a conversation between you and God. The post is merely meant to help you start if you are feeling lost or unsure.
If you are wanting to go a couple inches deeper (figure of speech, its not really deeper, just different). You can even see How To Pray With Your Spouse. This can be an extremely powerful tool for a marriage. I know there have been countless nights where Kevin and I have prayed together, cried together (well I cried), and just poured out our hearts to Jesus. It has TRANSFORMED our marriage in so many ways. It is an extremely vulnerable and open space when praying with your spouse before God, but so rewarding and renewing.
I also have compiled a post on 25 Verses To Pray Over Your Husband. This really gives you guidance on different things to pray for and specific scripture to pray over your husband. I love this list because even though it is several years old, it still sparks new and different ways for me to pray for Kevin.
I really hope that this encourages you today to pray for your marriage. Know that I am not perfect, there have been days without prayer in my life and even weeks. There are highs and lows, but I have never regretted one second I have spent in prayer, only the times I haven’t. You can’t pray enough for your marriage.
Endnote: I have also just revamped my email content to include a weekly prayer for your marriage. Sign up right NOW to get a marriage prayer delivered to your email once a week!

I just recently wrote my own post about this: http://setmyheartonyou.com/how-to-pray-for-your-husband/ ! I thought that because I had an outline that it would be easy to follow but for some reason, it has been much more difficult to just sit down and do it. I put it off more times than not so your post actually really helps because it’s a reminder of just how important it is! Thanks for the encouragement! 🙂
