This post is sponsored by Opendoor, however, all opinions are my own.
The second week of January is upon us and resolutions are still a pretty hot topic. While I know many people reveal that their top resolutions involve going on a diet, losing weight, eating healthier or saving money, I like to make slightly different resolutions. I tend to focus on a word of the year and make my goals (or resolutions) around that word of the year. Last year, my word of the year was grace. We had a very challenging previous year and with moving, changing careers, juggling being a mom of two, and building our home I knew I would need lots of extra grace. This year, my word of the year is simplify and these are my top five New Year’s resolutions surrounding “simplifying” our life.
Simplify our schedule
This past year, with the growth of my blog and social media, I have had to learn on the go and put different perimeters in place to balance our life and my work. My job is very different from the average person, so learning how to navigate and schedule our calendar has been interesting. This year, I am working to simplify our schedule and get in a routine that works for our family. This also might mean saying “no” to things we really want to do in order put our family first and meet our goals. We want to focus on organizing our life and settling into our new home.
Simplify our home
As most of you know, we are getting extremely close to moving into our new custom home. With the move, I want to simplify our home by cleaning out unused or old items and reorganizing our life. I am beyond excited to get into our new space and organize! Speaking of new spaces, I know a lot of resolutions revolve around buying or selling a home.
Opendoor is a great way to “simplify” this process and help you get to the next chapter in your life. If you are interested in selling your home, you can visit opendoor.com and get a competitive offer within 48 hours. They buy your home directly so you can skip showings, prep work and any complications of double-moves (like we are currently doing) or double mortgages. And if you’re looking to buy, you simply download the Opendoor app, choose the city where you’re shopping (they’re currently in almost 20 metro areas including right here in Houston)and you can browse homes that are available and even give yourself a self-guided tour any day of the week from 6am-9pm daily (no appointment necessary). You literally use the Opendoor app as your key to unlock the home. Love it? They make it easy to make an offer right in the app! See, simplify.
Simplify my work
Like I mentioned above, Simply Clarke has been growing… a lot! I am so extremely thankful to each of you for all of your support and excited to see what 2019 has in store. In order to continue to manage everything as a one-woman show, I have created a new invoicing and expense system to help my workflow. I am also working to streamline other processes to take some of the work off of my self and automate it. Along with this, I hoping to work with several photographers to schedule out shoots and simplify my load. Essentially, without completely boring you, I am taking steps to get more efficient.
Simplify motherhood
This is a less tangible goal, but still extremely important. I want to simplify my role as a mom. What does this even mean? I want to focus on simple moments with my kids. I want to stop and read more books. Play more. Be more available to just cuddle. I want the simple. I want to look for products and services that simplify my role as a mom and help our family. One way I already do this is through grocery pick up. By ordering our groceries online and picking them up, I save so much time that I get to invest back in my family.
Simplify our marriage
That title sounds funny writing it down, because it is not really “simple”, but let me explain what I mean. I want to simplify what we focus on in our marriage. I want our focus to be on loving each other well. I want to pick one or two areas to really focus on or improve. I believe it’s the little everyday moments that make a difference. This could be having one fun date night a month or working on how we balance technology and marriage.
I know everyone is completely different and in different phases of their lives, so it’s likely that your resolutions might be taking a different turn than mine, but I hope these inspired you in some way toward yours. From simplifying with great options like Opendoor or even working on work-life balance, it is going to be a great 2019! What are some of your resolutions for 2019? Do you have a word of the year?
