For our little family, summer is full of family fun and tons of adventures, but having the kids at home 24/7 can make it a little more difficult to make time for date nights. We have found this trick to still make time for just us while we are all home together. We can’t always get a babysitter or make time to go out outside of the house, but the possibilities are endless for an at-home date night once we put the kids to bed. This has given us so much time to intentionally spend time together.
You don’t need a lot of fancy things to make an at-home date night special. It just takes a few items and some intentionality to make it special and unique. I recently came up with a 4th of July themed at-home date night complete with delish treats!
I find that it’s a lot easier to think of ideas when you come up with a theme first. I like to make themed date nights around days on the calendar (like the 4th of July), or things we love like spaghetti or pizza or baseball. The possibilities are really endless!
What You’ll Need
After you decide on a theme, I find it easy to brainstorm the food and the movie. We love movie nights, so our at-home date nights typically consist of food and a movie, or a game. For our 4th of July themed at-home date night, I grabbed themed plates, napkins, and cups from Walmart and also sweet treats like Drumstick® Lil Drums™, Outshine® Fruit Bars and a Haagen-Dazs® Coffee Ice Cream.
Set Your Space
Next, decide on your space. If you’re serving a full dinner, a table might be best. If you are focusing on sweet treats like me, you could set up a picnic style date, a charcuterie board, or something of that nature. The setup is key to making a memorable date. The little details really do make a difference. They should be simple, but memorable.
Attention to Details
Like I mentioned, details are key. I picked up 4th of July themed plates, napkins and cups to go with our Drumstick® Lil Drums™, Outshine® Fruit Bars and Haagen-Dazs® Coffee Ice Cream. We already had a picnic blanket at home and pillows for set up, and then I made sure to pick a line up of movies to match our theme. This would also be great with a themed game like battleship or war. There are so many ideas that can go with the 4th of July!
Have Fun
Having fun won’t be hard when you have happy on hand with Drumstick® Lil Drums™, Outshine® Fruit Bars and Haagen-Dazs® Coffee Ice Cream. These treats are so delicious and will make your at home date night that much more sweet!
Pick up everything you need for your 4th of July themed at-home date night at Walmart! They have all the sweets you need for a great night!
