It is no secret that summer is in full effect. It is near 100 degrees almost every day here and I am enjoying the sweet sunshine. I am also really enjoying this one year old year with Brooke. She is walking everywhere now and so explorative. She just loves to play and see new things. I have mentioned a few times that I have been trying to do something different and fun with Brooke each week during summer, so I thought I would share a few of our ideas with you. Here are 10 Fun Summer Toddler Activities:
Pool Trip
Grab your swim bag and head to the pool! Brooke’s favorite activities this summer have involved water. She is such a water baby and enjoys it so much. We have taken her to big pools where she loves floating in her floaty and daddy throwing her up in the air. She has also been in little shallow pools where she loves slapping the water.
Outdoor Pool (Fishing)
Like I said, Brooke LOVES the water, so we have an outdoor kiddie pool for her that she adores. She plays with her toys and even uses a net to go fishing! It is a great fine motor skill activity that she really enjoys. She also likes to chunk the fish out of the water and say “uh oh”.
Blowing Bubbles
At the beginning for summer, I bought Brooke this adorable bubble set from buybuy Baby. It is in the shape of a little heart and big cute butterfly. While Brooke can’t quite figure out how to blow bubbles yet, she loves watching me blow them or blow them at her. We had a ton of fun the other afternoon outside with this activity.
Stroller Walks
Brooke has always loved her stroller so this made our activity list easy. She also loves people and saying “hi” to everyone we pass, so our favorite place for a stroller walk is the mall. We have an amazing outdoor mall here in town that we go to a lot just for a relaxing walk and shopping.
Water Table
Again, Brooke + Water = Tons of fun. We love this Little Tikes Water Table and this Sand and Water Table. She loves splashing in the water and feeling the sand between her fingers.
Finger Painting/ Hand Print Painting
Listen, this is so fun, but harder than it seems. Brooke and I made a pink flamingo handprint art a few weeks ago and she loved playing the paint. We didn’t quite get a good handprint because she really wanted to squish the paint in her hands a lot. Overall, it was a great activity that really let her explore a different texture.
Sorting Game
Another great activity is letting them put things in a container and take it back out. For example, Brooke loves taking our all of my make up and putting it all back in. She also loves putting all of her blocks in a big tupperware bowl and then taking them back out. She will do this for over an hour! It is such a great activity!
Snack Necklace
The most yummy activity! Put out a lot of fun snacks and help your child make a fun snack necklace, then put on your favorite movie and enjoy.
Dance Party
Music is playing through our house a lot, but the other morning, we stopped and had a dance party that Brooke loved. She was shaking her body in her high chair at first, then we let her down and she was really trying to dance with us. It was hilarious and so much fun!
Swinging
Take the afternoon and head to a local park with a play set. Swinging on the swings is so much fun and slides are the best. This a great activity to get out of the house, enjoy the weather and have some family time.
