What A Day! I feel like I am saying that at the end of most days lately. Being a full time wife, mom, blogger and working 40 hours a week has its challenges (not to mention being pregnant), but it is far from boring. Some days, I feel like i’m thriving, while others, I feel like I’m 70% dry shampoo and 30% coffee. I think we can all raise our hands and say we have days like that periodically. For me, I know that right now is just a busy season in our life. We have plans for life to calm down a bit as the new baby arrives, but we will see! For now, busy schedule it is, here is a little peek into a day in my life right now:
My alarm goes off at 6:30am, however, lately, I have been waking up around 6am on my own (thanks to the little babe in my belly). I tend to roll over and check all of my emails so that I can start the day with a clean inbox. After that, I briefly scroll through social media, and then get out of bed by 6:50am. The rest of my little family is still tucked tightly in their beds sleeping away. I get ready for the day by doing my hair and make up while sipping on some water. I have been nauseous still most mornings, and the first thing I want in the morning is ice cold water.
CamelBak‘s new vacuum-insulated steel Chute™ bottle is coming in VERY handy. It keeps your drink hot for up to 6 hours and cold for up to 24 hours or even longer if you add ice! This helps my water stay PERFECT throughout the night and ready for me first thing in the morning. It is so nice not to have to go downstairs and get a fresh glass. Plus, the double-walled design keeps condensation from collecting on the outside of the bottle, and the powder-coated paint job keeps things colorful while giving you a little extra grip.
Then, around 7:20am, I get dressed and walk to Brooke’s room to wake her up. Some mornings, she wakes up immediately when she hears me walk in, other mornings, I have to turn on the light, talk to her and pick her up to wake her up. The girl loves her sleep! While I am getting Brooke dressed and ready for the day, Kevin normally wakes up and comes in Brooke’s room to say good morning. Then, we all head downstairs.
Once downstairs, (its normally about 7:30-7:35 by then) I grab my breakfast and lunch items, refill by CamelBak Chute™ and load everything in the car. After all the “stuff” is loaded, I go back inside, Brooke and I give Kevin “bye bye kisses” and we head out the door! It takes around 30 minutes for me to navigate traffic to Brooke’s school, so we normally arrive between 8:00-8:10am. I take her to her class, kiss her bye and then head to work.
I tend to arrive to work between 8:15-8:30am. About this time, I try to post to Instagram for the morning and promote my post of the day on social media before I head into work. I then start my work day by eating my breakfast, and checking my work emails then I get down to my check list tasks. I work on checking things off of my list or attend meetings until lunchtime. During my lunch break, I head back to my blog email, answer emails, respond to social media comments, pin images, or work on any blog posts that are due. After lunch, I go back to work until around 4:30pm.
At 4:30, I pick up Brooke and we head home for the evening. When Brooke and I get home, I tend to follow up with comments on social media, respond to emails, and take photos for upcoming posts. I also make sure that Brooke and I are getting some good play time in as well. Kevin gets home around 6:00-6:30pm and I start dinner while they play. After dinner, we give Brooke a bath, then play more as a family and put Brooke to bed about 8:00pm.
Once Brooke is down for the night, Kevin and I clean up downstairs, fill up our Chute Water Bottles and head to bed (with dessert of course!). Once upstairs, we normally take time to just hang out and watch tv or talk about our day. Occasionally, I will work on a blog post if I have a deadline, but I try not to do that so that we can have time together.
By 10:45-11:00pm, you can find me drifting off to sleep (or sometimes even earlier with this pregnancy).
