Tips For Your About Page

What is the most viewed page on your blog (besides your homepage of course)? Most likely, it is your about page. I know for me, the first thing I do when when visiting a new blog is scroll through their home page, then proceed to their about page to learn more about them. This means you could missing an opportunity to connect with readers. That is BIG!

At the end of the day, I found that readers really just want to know you. They want to “hear” you talk, see about your life, learn things from you and interact. So, if you don’t have an about page at all, I would advice you get one — F A S T.

I am by no means an expert on about pages, but I do read blogs – a lot. & have seen some pretty awesome about pages, and some non-existent ones. Here are some tips I have put together to help you take your about page to the next level. & a little inspiration for you to get started on your page!

TIPS FOR YOUR ABOUT PAGE

 
Pictures: Make sure to include pictures; these are a must! People want to see you 🙂
 
Connect: Include things about you: Hobbies, Loves, Interests, Odd things about you – this will help people connect with you. Maybe you will meet another blogger that loves diet coke, football, or went to the same college as you. All these things help build connections.
 
Links: Give people a reason to stay on your blog. Promote your favorite posts, or social media outlets. (I personally do not have this on my about page, but I have seen it done really nicely)
 
Be You: At the end of the day, what makes you- you. Are you good with design? Show it through your about page. Do you like being in front of the camera? Make your about page a vlog. Love photography? Feature your latest Instagram shots. Letting your personality shine through is what will ultimately set your about page apart and make it memorable.
