I have been at back to back conferences this past week in Houston, Texas and Ontario, California. Both of these conferences were extremely different, one was Passion (a College-Age conference) and one was Children’s Pastors Conference. But, its funny how, not matter where you are or what the context, if God is wanting to speak to you He will. If He is trying to get a message to you, you will hear it. Let me just say, I heard it loud and clear this past week. GO!!
There is God. & there is Sin.
& God’s response to sin is ultimately Jesus.
In Matthew 1, it says that Jesus is Immanuel, God with us – which shows us that God wants to be with us. In most religions, you have this ladder and everyone is trying to climb up, but the thing is that Christ came down that ladder you couldn’t climb. Why? Because he wanted to be with, YOU. And, before his ascension into Heaven, he tells us how to live.
He says in Matthew 28 (Great Commission), “Go and make disciples..”
But lets be honest, have you ever been overwhelmed by that? I mean think about it.
You are sitting in church or a bible study and the speaker says, now therefore “Go” and your pumped up, but your like “Go where?”
And, they say, “and make disciples”
And you think “I can maybe do that, I don’t necessarily feel completely equipped, but maybe I can check this one off?”
Then they say, “of all nations” and your like “should I go on a mission trip for two weeks, does that count?”….
And “baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirt, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Yikes, your like “oh no, I need to read my bible… and study more.” It’s overwhelming.
Overwhelming.
But, the end of that verse says, “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age”. He is Immanuel, God with us.
That is the point of your life – to go and tell people about Jesus, make disciples. And the creator of the universe is WITH YOU. He has placed His Holy Spirit inside of you and that kind of makes you a big deal. We have the power, not to change people, but to love them.
The point of our lives is to bring a taste of Jesus to the broken mess we are in.
This past week, I have heard God screaming (nicely) Go!! I will be honest, I have absolutely no idea what that entails at this point, but I know that I am not satisfied with where I am right now. I want to do more, share more, be more for Christ. I know that I cannot “go” without God’s power to go, so I have a lot to pray about and process but I do know, I want to GO. I want God to use my mess for His glory.
Sooo good, so beautiful! Thank you for this precious and bold reminder to GO and that the Lord is with us always, never leaving us, especially when we feel so alone or overwhelmed.
So beautiful, girlie!! I think that is hopefully the prayer of all Christians following Jesus, so He can use our brokenness and our mess to do something awesome in this world:)
We’ve been studying Jonah at church and this is EXACTLY what my pastor has been saying. “Jesus came downstairs.” And, every single person we have ever locked eyes with is of incredible worth to Him. When we really, truly understand what that means – it will be hard not to “go.” But, I’m a broken mess, so that’s pretty overwhelming for me, too.
