Last week, when talking germs, I mentioned briefly that I have been struggling with getting sick often since Brooke has been born. Because of this, I have been trying to be more conscious of my health. Besides trying to cut out some germs in my life, I have been trying to eat better and lighten my busy schedule. Working full time, blogging, keeping up with the house, taking care of Brooke and having a life is no simple task. My body is still adjusting to my new “Mom On The Go” lifestyle. And now, my diet is too. Here are my 4 Healthy Mom On The Go Snacks I have added to my day:
1. Fruit
I like to start my day off at around 6:00am with some fruit. This normally entails green grapes or a banana. I am not a big fan of many other fruits so I tend to stick with those, plus they are low maintenance. I have to peel an apple because I don’t like the skin and who wants to peel an apply at 6am? No one. Brooke wakes up to eat around 6:30-7:00am, so eating a snack first thing helps me have a little extra energy for when she feeds.
2. Chobani Flip
If you haven’t heard, Chobani, America’s #1 Greek Yogurt brand, is kicking off a new season and saying #HelloSummer with 15 new product varieties and the Chobani Flip is one of those varieties. Chobani Flip is a collection of sweet snacks that pair delicious Greek Yogurt with natural mix-ins. They have two new great flavors; Coffee Break Bliss which is a low-fat yogurt with biscotti pieces and chocolate and, a summer favorite Strawberry Summer Crisp which is low-fat yogurt paired with golden graham crackers and white chocolate.
No matter the variety, each and every cup of Chobani Greek Yogurt is made with fresh milk from cows not treated with rBST and proudly contains no artificial sweeteners, preservatives or flavors. I have added a Chobani Flip as my mid-morning snack at my desk before lunch. I tend to get pretty hungry around 10:30 and that is just too early for lunch! I love the taste of Coffee Break Bliss and the Strawberry Summer Crisp; they are just so delicious. Seriously, if you haven’t tried them yet, you should visit Chobani online and try one for yourself, you won’t be sorry!
3. Dry Cereal
By now, I think I should mention that I’m a breakfast person. I could eat breakfast dishes for all meals of the day so it is not surprising that my favorite on the go snacks revolve around breakfast. I have found that dry cereal is another great snack option. I pack a small snack size bag of dry cereal for my afternoon snack and like to eat it around 3:00pm before I pick Brooke up from daycare.
4. Protein
Protein is always good for you. I am normally hungry for dinner early, so as soon as I get home from work, I like to have a spoonful of peanut butter or a boiled egg if we have one already cooked to hold me over until dinnertime. I tend to lean toward the spoonful of peanut butter, because we always have peanut butter sitting on the counter from Kevin making his lunch (he eats PB&Js for lunch).
Hopefully this gave you some new “On The Go” snack ideas! Seriously, not just another PSA – try the Chobani Flip, it is amazing!!! I would love to hear your snack ideas though. Leave me comment with your favorites.
