From the moment you announce that you are pregnant, you get tons of advice and stories thrown your way. Some are fantastic and prepare you for parenthood, while others slightly scare you and leave you in disbelief. Then, there are those moments you can’t prepare for…Those moments, no one tells you about… You know you’re a parent when…
You hide in the pantry to eat a cookie because your toddler will beg you for one over and over if they see you.
You never get a spare moment alone. You always have visitors in the bathroom with you. They knock on the shower door when your showering. And they insist on following you around the whole day.
You change out the movie four times before the menu even pops up because your toddler keeps changing their mind on what movie they want to watch.
You randomly think you hear crying because your mind is so accustomed to the sound, but in reality, no one is crying.
You are pushing the stroller around the block at 2am because #teethingsucks
Someone parking close to you is your biggest pet peeve because you can’t get the car seat back in the car.
You refer to your self as “mama” or “mommy” to a stranger…
You sniff your child’s butt instead of looking in the diaper to see if they pooped
Nap time is the most sought after time of the day
Spit up on your shirt is the norm and you roll with it. Most of the time, you don’t even notice.
Your alarm clock is your child staring at you to wake up
You find toys in your purse. And goldfish. And more toys.
The most important thing is SLEEP! They sleep, you sleep, everyone wins.
You can’t get through dinner without someone crying. It never fails that the most “crying” time of day is when you are trying to make dinner.
You think your heart my burst from all the love and joy you feel when you look at your kids.
I would love to keep this going and hear your “You Know You’re A Parent When…” moments. Comment below!
