Kraft-Heinz sponsored this post, but the opinions are my own.
As a mom of two young kids, it is easy to constantly feel like you are saying “no” all day long. I don’t know about you, but sometimes that just gets old. Sometimes, I want to worry less about my “to do” list and more about having fun with my kids. Ever wonder how to craft your day to say “yes” more? Now, I know that this isn’t always a possibility, sometimes, you have to “parent” but something simple such as giving your kids food and drinks that are better for them doesn’t always have to be a fight. Here are 7 Ways To Be a Playful Mom:
Great Snack Options
One thing I have found that helps me be able to say “yes” more is to give Brooke great snack options. I offer great tasting snacks that are mom approved and kid approved, and they are so easy to grab at Walmart. By offering her this, she gets “juice” and I get a mom win. I try to offer her two choices (each that I approve of) so that I can say “yes”. We do this at every meal so that she gets to decide and still eat things that I love.
Dance Party
Another way to bump up your fun level is by saying yes to a dance party. We have dance parties all the time in our house. Dance parties in the tub, dance parties before dinner, dance parties when daddy gets home… you name it. Really, I find that if a day starts to get “cranky” or “whiney”, a dance party tends to do the trick.
Bubbles
Bubbles just make it all better (just like princess bandaids). I like that you can do bubbles indoors if its raining outside or take them outside. Bubbles are a fun way to re-direct kids attention and you will get on the winning list for sure!
Reading Time
Spending quality time with your kids is so important as a parent and a great way to do this is reading time. Brooke loves having a reading time with me, so this easily made my top ways to be a playful mom. Especially since I work from home, I try to ensure that I take out time for us to play and read together. We have our favorite books and just sit and read them over and over. If you want bonus points, add in character voices!
Play Chase
Another way to be a playful mom is to say yes to childhood. Say “yes” to playing chase around the house and marching around. I have found that this also helps Brooke get out her energy, thus puts her in a better mood for the day. Its so crazy how when she has too much energy, she becomes a not so great listener. This little trick has helped us wonders!
Go Outside
Yes, get outside in the beautiful weather. Take a walk, go to the park, sit in the driveway with chalk.. just get outside. The fresh air is so good for you and your little one. I find that sunshine and fresh air really help me to be in a better mood and thus be a happier mom. You can even take your Capri Sun Organic Apple outside with you! This fall weather is perfect for it – you can pretend you picked the apples yourself – or actually go apple picking.
Have Something For You
Probably one of the most important aspects to being a more playful and joyful mom is to have something for you! Have a mom day where you focus on you or maybe a mom “morning” where the kids go to class. You can even take your moments at nap time. Do things that you love and maintain your identity – you’re not just a mom.
A lot of these ways to be a more playful mom involve small wins of saying “yes” because the small things make it easier to say ‘Yes!’ to other parts of your day!
