Christmas is the season of not only receiving, but giving. I remember my parents teaching me about giving to others and I know how important that is in society. Learning to give to others with an open heart is so rewarding and such a gift in itself. I want to be able to instill this value in my children as they grow and Christmas is such a great time to start showing them. I have written a few posts about ways to give back during the holiday season, but now as a mom, my eyes have also been opened to new ways to give back at Christmas. One of these ways is through Huggies No Baby Unhugged program.
You may not realize this, but there is a BIG “diaper need” even in the U.S. “Diaper Need” is the struggle to provide enough diapers to keep a baby or toddler clean, dry and healthy. The National Diaper Bank Network and Huggies announced a study in September 2017 that revealed 1-in-3 U.S. families (36%) struggle with diaper need. This stat is the normal which is a hard pill to swallow. My eyes were really opened to this “need” during the big hurricane in our city this year. I remember watching the news and seeing young families at shelters thinking, what if I had to leave my house without a clean diaper. I couldn’t imagine the helplessness of having my baby sitting in a dirty diaper and not being able to help them.
As a mom, thinking about this is heartbreaking. It breaks my heart for the parents out there struggling with “diaper need” and their babies. But, I’m so thankful that we can help in many ways. Huggies and Dollar General care about helping families in need too, especially during the holiday season. For every pack of Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers purchased at Dollar General through December 31, 2017, Huggies will donate a day’s worth of diapers (up to 500,000) and Dollar General will donate $1 (up to $5,000) to the National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN) as part of the Huggies No Baby Unhugged program.
Huggies is a founding sponsor of the National Diaper Bank Network and through its No Baby Unhugged program, has provided ongoing support for the organization and has donated more than 200 million diapers and wipes, including critical donations during times of crisis, to those in diaper need.
While my eyes were opened to this need during a crisis, its even harder to see the reality of this being an everyday struggle. But, the reality is also that a little purchase can go a long way. Head to your local Dollar General and purchase Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers! What you purchase matters. Make it count.
