There is something so special about quality time with each of your children individually. It may be because I am an only child myself, but I so love and value one-on-one time where I can really give all my attention to one child at a time. I remember soaking in each day of Brooke being an only child, because I knew that soon, my attention would be divided. While being a mom of two has changed so much about me, I love every moment with my littles. I have seen how much Brooke enjoys spending time with Mommy too. She loves our time together and asks me if we can go “somewhere” together all the time. She enjoys small adventures in our day and a few special ones come to mind. These are 5 Mommy Daughter Spring Activities we enjoy:
Salon Day
Brooke LOVES getting her nails and toes painted. She enjoys picking out her favorite color of the day and matching mommy. I think this is the only time she will stay perfectly still for up to 30 minutes at a time! Salon Days are such a fun way to spend time together. We like to get our favorite drink and some times, we even have salon days at home.
Shopping
Shopping is another BIG favorite of Brooke’s, she is her mother’s daughter for sure. She will beg to go shopping or ask if we can “get ready”. One thing she really likes about shopping aside from picking out new toys, is matching mommy. Recently we found these matching Reebok Classics at DSW and they were a must! She has been so excited about them and likes us to wear them together. I also catch her wearing mine around the house too. Be sure to snag a pair for your whole family at DSW when you are out shopping!
Picnic Lunch Surprise
The weather is so great in Spring, so its the perfect time to get outside together for lunch. Grab a blanket, maybe even some music and have fun. I like to add in a special dessert surprise of cookies, brownies or ICE CREAM for a fun treat. You can even blow bubbles after lunch to add to the fun. Although, if your little is anything like mine, the ice cream will make the top of the list.
Outside Art
Think fun water paint or large art. If you aren’t a big “color” paint fan, you can even “paint” your deck area with water and paint brushes. Sidewalk chalk is another fun art option for outside. Brooke prefers paints but has had a lot of fun with chalk as well. We like to make lots of flowers and play games with the chalk.
Park Time
While a morning at the park tends to be slightly more for your little, it can also be a lot of fun to just play together. Brooke loves to slide and swing a lot. She likes when I slide with her down the slide and when I catch her at the bottom. Its fun to run back and forth between slides with her and see her big smile. She likes to wind down with a swing and even wants to sit on the “big” ones with mommy now.
My favorite Spring Mommy Daughter activities are ice cream picnics and shopping for sure! We just have so much fun together and laugh so much. I know I will always remember our matching Reebok Classics from our special shopping trip. Grab a pair that holds fun memories for your whole family at DSW!
