Gosh, another month down, another month closer to move in! It is starting to get so real. We have been in this process for over a year now, so it is still so surreal to see it all come to life. This month, our A/C, electrical and plumbing for inside the walls was finished up, foam insulation went in, drywall was installed, our fireplace was installed, inside doors were ordered and delivered (including our amazing modern barn door!), our walls got textured, we are brainstorming kitchen and closet designs for our meeting with the cabinet guy, and we had an AMAZING tile design meeting with Interceramic at their newly renovated showroom!
Wow, that was a mouthful! Let me break down the details now. We had a slight delay with our foam insulation because the machine broke, but there was nothing we could do about it – these things happen. After all of the foam was put in, it was crazy how much the house already cooled down. We decided to go with foam just for better whole house insulation and we are pumped that our attic will be essentially the same temperature as our house – we will have lots of climate controlled space!
It was also exciting to see our drywall up, it just really defined all of the spaces so much better. I could see my vision with just the “sticks” up, but having the walls made it feel more like a home. I haven’t gotten to see the texture in person, but Kevin got a few pictures for me last week.
Also, our inside doors were delivered this week after the texture was complete. We picked out our doors back in June, but of course didn’t order them until recently. We really like the modern feel of the doors, they are pretty distinct and since they are 8ft, they are a massive feature! I have mentioned a few times and you may have seen on IG stories that we picked our modern barn door from barndoorz.com. They have such an incredible lineup that made it extremely hard to decide on our door. (I will share more on this process soon!). But, we finally made a decision and it was delivered. Again, it is HUGE! 8ft doors just seem so big to me and I love them.
Our fireplace was another decision this month. We opted for a larger fireplace, because we feel like it will be the first thing people see when they walk in the door besides the big kitchen island. I feel like it is going to be a great focal point, so I want to do it right. I envision a sitting hearth, white stone, dark stained mantel, and simple decor. Its all in my head!
We have also been working on our cabinet designs and closet designs for our meeting with the cabinet guy. We have a certain look we are going for throughout the house, so it has been a process to design each space, but I can’t wait to see my sketches come to life. We have been going back and forth on basic closets or customizing them to each of us – so we will see which direction we go!
Also, another exciting thing this month was our design meeting with Interceramic. I found Interceramic years ago while searching house stuff on Pinterest, then was re-introduced to them from our friends that used them for their wood tile floors. After a few emails back and forth, we set up a design meeting at their newly remodeled showroom. From the moment we walked in the door, I think I said “this is just so pretty” 100 times. Everywhere I looked was gorgeous tile and on top of that, their staff was extremely helpful. Their showroom was very “hands-on” and designed with the homeowner in mind. It is just so inspirational. They have such great products from floor tile, to wood tile, to decorative tile – literally our whole house will be in their tile because I’m obsessed. I will be posting more about our design process with them as well and can’t to show you a sneak peek of our tile designs!
I think someone is going to have to pinch me that first night I lay down to sleep in this house. It just feels like a dream π I cannot wait.
