No one, I mean no one, can build your husband up, or tear him down, like you. You are the closest person to your husband. Your opinion matters, what you say matters. Your words are extremely powerful in building up your husband and encouraging his heart. Here are 4 Ways To Encourage Your Husband’s Heart:
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. – Ephesians 4:29
Consider Circumstances
Consider what is going on in your husbands life right now and think of ways that you can encourage him. Is he struggling at work? Maybe send him a text in the morning and let him know how proud you are of him. Or, you can leave encouraging notes for him around the house or in his lunch box. Maybe your husband is feeling financial pressure? Try to think of ways to save your family money or cut back on expenses to lighten his load.
Notice Your Surroundings
Be vigilant to notice all that your husband does for your family. This is huge! Take the time to really notice everything big and small and be thankful for those things. Consider his strengths and build those up. Does he always do the dishes? Take time to notice and encourage. Does he always put the kids to bed? Let him know what a great father he is to your kids.
Watch For God Working
How is God working in your husbands life? He is working, but have you taken the time to notice what it is. This might be hard at first, but dig in to husbands heart. Actively ask him how you can be praying for him and do so – This can be huge in encouraging your spouse!! The power of prayer is so rewarding in life and marriage. Does your husband seem to be working on his patience? Encourage that and acknowledge his progress. Is he really working on leading your family toward Christ? Here are 4 Ways To Encourage your Husband’s Walk or ways to Encourage Your Husband To Lead. Let him know how much his efforts mean to you.
Express Your Feelings
I don’t know about you, but some days, I just get overwhelmed with thankfulness for how my husband serves our family. I try to let him know instantly when this comes to my mind. I want him to know I see what he does and how much I appreciate him. We were created to build each other up and be a team in marriage to show God’s love and grace. Be sure to share your feelings with your spouse and let him know how much you love him and how much you care.
So, ask yourself this question… Are you validating your husband? Do your words give him life? Are they kind? Are they encouraging? Choose to lift him up daily in verbal affirmation, physical affirmation, and in prayer.
