So, you can find me doing a happy dance EVERY DAY NOW! I cannot tell you how exciting it was to walk our house for the first time all framed out. I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning. A lot has happened this month on the house, so let me catch you up to speed the best I can! Last month, they poured our slab and we started picking out a few basic window and door selections. I never got to see the house with just the foundation, because of my work schedule and the kids, but Kevin brought me home great pictures from when he went.
This month, the house was framed, outside walls went up, the roof was installed, our back door and front door came in and our electrical, plumbing and hvac work began. Oh, and our windows were installed! Like I said, A LOT happened. This month, I got to visit the house a lot. I saw it for the first time with the frame when I had a meeting with our electrician. It was seriously the best day. I kept texting Kevin at work and told him he had to go look when he got off. It was just so fun!
We decided on windows this month and they were installed. We also went over all of the electrical outlets with a fine tooth comb and all of the lines are run in the house and ready for insulation to begin this week. I also mentioned that we got to see our front door, back door and one inside door in person. We picked our front door via Pinterest and ordered with our door guy. He found a very similar one to what I picked out and now we just have to get it stained the correct color. As for the back door, we knew exactly what we wanted because Kevin’s parents have the same one at the lake house.
Now inside doors were so fun! We picked a very modern, sleek choice that I cannot wait to see installed. We got to see one up close in the showroom this past week and it was perfect. We also ordered our modern, sliding barn door for our bedroom from BarnDoorz.com. We went back and forth on the design for this door and I legit cannot wait to see it in person!!! I am so pumped about the modern accent this is going to give our bedroom.
Oh, now the kids LOVE going to the house. Brooke really understands that we are building this new house now and just keeps making sure she can bring all of her toys. She is also HIGHLY concerned with when the kitchen is going to be ready #priorities…food and toys.
Baby Kevin has no clue what is going on, but he just wants to get into mischief per usual. He loves running around the house and wants to play in the dirt outside. He is such a little handful!
We also got our shingles installed this month. We actually picked out our shingles last year as part of our POA application paperwork, so it was super easy since we already made that decision. One of the only good things about this process taking so long is that I have had over a year to really dream of each space in my head. I feel like I have a great vision for the house and I just excited watching it unfold.
