I decided to post two updates this month, because so much is happening at the house! I feel like everyday more is getting done and things are changing. The past two weeks have been filled with lots of decisions, but it has been so much fun. We had our meeting with the carpenter and all of the wood work in the house has begun. We picked our crown molding, door trim and baseboard trim. We walked through closet designs, our mudroom design, laundry room and basically all cabinets. Our inside doors were installed including our AMAZING modern barn door! Also, we finally had a small break in the rain, so they started bricking the outside of the house.
We picked out our brick 41 weeks ago, according to my Instagram stories, so seeing it in person was so exciting! It looks exactly like we pictured and we could not be happier. It has been raining here constantly, so it was exciting to finally see the brick go up during a rare day it didn’t rain.
Deciding on all of our wood work has been a fun process as well. Our “wood guy/cabinet guy” as I call him is nothing short of an extremely creative person. He is very good at what he does. He helped walk us through each space and took my drawings, listened to what was important to us as a family and brought it to life. We decided to do Brooke and Little Kevin’s closet slightly different and Brooke LOVES hers. She keeps telling me she wants to paint it pink though (I think she’s going to be real disappointed when the white paint goes up lol).
We are also super happy with our master closet and the mudroom. Everything is looking so good and I cannot wait to see the kitchen cabinets go in. It is feeling more and more like home everyday.
I mentioned that all our interior doors were installed this past week as well, including our modern sliding barn door from barndoorz.com. It is absolutely PERFECT! The craftsmanship on this door is beyond amazing and we could not be happier with our decision. I think it really makes a statement in our master bedroom and we realized this week the herringbone theme is going to tie in perfectly with the tile in our master bathroom.
In terms of technical stuff going on right now, we just ordered our tub for the master bathroom and are starting to shop around for faucets in the bathrooms. We are also hoping to decide on fans and our carpet soon. The next two months are sure to be a whirlwind with the holidays and finishing up the house – but we cannot wait!
