It’s time for Clarke Residence Update #7. I know it has only been two weeks, but so much has happened at the house I thought it was time to share more! Everything is in the final phases and each time I go to the house i just want to stay longer and longer. It feels like home and I am so ready to live there. Since your last update, we have finished most of the tile in the house, met with our landscaper, began final electric work, and placed final orders. I’m sure that I am forgetting some details because honestly, I feel like I have done house stuff every day the past two weeks!
All of the bathroom and flooring tile is complete. We absolutely LOVE all of our tile choices from Interceramic. Seeing our vision for our tile come to life has been incredibly fun and our installer did such great work. One day during installation, I got to watch them for about 30 minutes because I was waiting for a meeting and it was mind blowing. I never knew how much creativity and detail went in to laying tile. It gave me even more appreciation for all of the work that has gone into our house.
While our Interceramic tile was being finished, our electricians came in and began final work on the electric side. They dug a trench for our permanent electric line. They installed switches, outlets and recessed lighting. They also put together all of our lighting pieces. I was extremely excited to see our lighting put together. Almost all of our lighting is from Kichler lighting and it looks amazing! The lights over our island just look so good!
I also met with our landscaper over the week and we talked about initial plans for landscaping. I keep forgetting I need to email him a few details so I really need to follow up on that ASAP. Our driveway was also poured last week and it looks even better than we could have imagined. I am so thankful to no longer need my pink Hunter boots each time I go to the house. Don’t get me wrong, I love my pink Hunter boots, but I felt slightly ridiculous in a construction zone wearing bright pink every time. (Tts been so MUDDY that i have needed to wear boots every time we go out to the house).
We have also been placing all final orders. We decided on all of our plumbing fixtures, mirrors, toilet paper holders, towel holders, knobs, pulls, and sinks. Basically, all of the little details – we searched online, we looked through hundreds of options and finally made decisions. Oh, we picked our fireplace stone and toilets too! The list is honestly never ending! Ahh – and we have an appointment to talk with a guy about our blinds.
Each day, I just keep a list in my phone of house things I need to do and order. It evolves every day and I feel like our builder should be on my speed dial list. Overall, things couldn’t be going any better. We are so excited with all of the choices we have made so far, all of our sub-contractors have done amazing jobs at installation and our contractor is one the best in the business. We feel extremely blessed and cannot wait to move in to our new home VERY soon!
