size of the baby: Cauliflower – 13.6-14.8 inches
total weight gain: 14ish pounds
gender: Little Miss
maternity clothes: l really need to go shopping for a few new tops, it is slim pickings in my closet right now on shirts that fit. Sigh.
movement: love. love. love feeling her move. I feel like she wasn’t as active this week, but when she was, they were super strong kicks.
sleep: I am back to not sleeping the greatest. I have been waking up at about 4 or 5 in the morning and not being able to go back to sleep for like an hour or at all. No fun. I am super tired.
nursery: We have a mattress for the crib now and I think we are going to have some time to actually put the crib together next week, so hopefully it all starts coming together soon. I have a major itch to get her room set up. I have been feeling super overwhelmed about it.
craving: mint chocolate chip ice cream. and double daves buffet.
symptoms: Besides the sleeping issues, not too many other symptoms this week besides feeling extra large and a tad more emotional.
kevin is: working a lot. I feel like I haven’t seen him much this week, but I am super proud of him. Plus he went to target with me yesterday so bonus points for him. I love going to Target together.
looking forward to: baby shower planning coming up and all kinds of fun events on the horizon. I feel like the spring is going to fly by.
best (or not) moments: This week was honestly pretty uneventful. I have felt more anxious this week about baby stuff and been a tad overwhelmed. I called to find out about birthing classes and breastfeeding classes, now I just need to decided if we should sign up for them. Any thoughts? Is it worth it? Some people say yes, some say no. I really am not the type of person who wants to watch a video or know too many details about what is going to take place “birth wise” but I can’t decide.

I took a breastfeeding class, it was somewhat useful but to be honest I don’t think it had much affect on our success. We didn’t take a birthing class and my labor was as easy and uneventful as a labor can be. I would say take a hospital tour just to feel more comfortable with the area, but the rest isn’t necessary. Between google and baby boards, I felt like I knew or had read about the things talked about in class already!

Mackensey StangThanks Mackensey! That seems to be what a lot of people are saying.

You look fab! And I never went to either type of class. It was just all so natural once I was in the moment. You can talk with a breastfeeding consultant at the hospital after you give birth if you need help or have questions!
Marquis Clarke
Samantha CurtisThanks love! Thats what I was thinking, I mean honestly I want to go with the flow and not be super uptight about it.
Caitlin
You look so good! I only did a class about pregnancy/childbirth and then I had the lactation consultant visit me three times in the hospital. If you plan on breastfeeding, I highly recommend checking your hospital’s policy on LCs. Our hospital had unlimited free consultations while I was there, and then scheduled consultations once I left. They are life savers!
Marquis Clarke
CaitlinThanks Caitlin, I will def. look into that!!

I took both classes this fall when I was expecting. The birthing class was ok, but you really can’t plan that experience. I personally got a great deal out of the breastfeeding class. I felt like I learned so much from it. I still work with the lactation nurses from the hospital (I am 3 weeks PP) and I feel like their knowledge and support has been what has made breastfeeding so successful for me and my baby.
Marquis Clarke
Meghan McAndrewsThanks Meghan, everyone has been recommending the lactation nurses so I am for sure going to look into that!
Meaghan Shelton
You are looking beautiful, mama! I obviously don’t have any first hand experience with birthing classes but my aunt who just had a baby was talking with me about going to hers and she told me that she didn’t really learn very much and that she knew most of what they talked about but that it was really great for her husband (who hadn’t had much experience with little ones) to learn about the process and how to be as helpful and supportive of you as possible.
Marquis Clarke
Meaghan SheltonThank you! Yeah, I keep wondering if it would help him more or just terrify him lol
Chelcey Tate
You are so adorable!! Target trips with my finace are one of my favorites things, too. 🙂 I’ll ask if we can go and his response is always “for what” and mine is always “for fun” … Duh!
Marquis Clarke
Chelcey TateThanks Chelcey! 🙂 That is me for sure!
Brittany Rasmussen
You look super cute! I am with you, I am feeling wishy washy on the whole birthing class thing too, and did our shirts just get shrink 6 inches over night or what?!
Marquis Clarke
Brittany RasmussenYes, the for sure shrunk!!! I finally just bought a new undershirt and two new tops from loft… I felt a lot better about myself after lol.. its amazing what two tops can do!
Kaity Stuckert
That is the cutest teeny, tiny belly! <3
Kaity Stuckert
Kaity StuckertAlso, I would definitely take a birthing class. It was so helpful in making my Hubby feel more prepared and involved. I didn’t take a breastfeeding class and my little one has nursed like a champ since Day One. If you have troubles, you can always reach out to your hospital’s lactation consultants after the fact!
Marquis Clarke
Kaity StuckertThank you Kaity! I have been wondering if it would be more helpful for him. Lots to think about!
Danica Pardini
This is my first time visiting your blog! Is this your first pregnancy? Because I noticed you said you love feeling her move….I’m 20 weeks and haven’t felt my little man move yet. 🙁
Marquis Clarke
Danica PardiniYes, it is my first! Really at the beginning when I first started feeling her was when I was laying down at night or super still. A lot of times she is more active after I eat too… Don’t worry though, it will come (i know they say it is really different for everyone depending on size and how your baby is laying, etc) and then you will loose some sleep when your little one wakes you up kicking!!

I really enjoyed my birth class — I took it at the hospital where I was going to deliver, so I loved that I was able to find out how my hospital worked, it’s specific policies, and go on a tour along with the class. I also liked that my husband came with me — I think that I knew most of the information that they went over but it was nice for my husband to learn more. We also did a night of breathing and relaxation, so we got to practice those techniques together. I didn’t do a breastfeeding class because my hospital has lactation consultants on call after your baby is born, and I thought that I would actually need the help when I had a baby to nurse, since you can’t exactly “practice” breastfeeding before – if that makes sense!
