I feel like our house has constantly had a sick person since November. Brooke has had ear infections and now has RSV, while Kevin and I have both had stomach bugs and sinus infections. Over the years and especially with a little one now, I have learned to stock your medicine cabinet with the essentials before cold season begins.
It is best to stick to single ingredient products, so you have what you need to treat your specific symptoms. This includes pain relievers and fever reducers, a decongestant, cough medicine, lozenges and sore throat spray. Topical medications, like Chloraseptic® sore throat sprays and lozenges are great to have on hand, because they are portable, can be used safely with other cold medicines, and have very few side effects. If you do get sick, talk to your pharmacist about how to manage your symptoms with medications. Today, specifically, I am concentrating on 5 Ways to Soothe A Sore Throat:
Vitamin Water with Zinc
I have found that Vitamin Water with Zinc (the lemonade flavor) does wonders for soothing a sore throat. I haven’t read anything about Vitamin Water for sore throats anywhere and a doctor has never told me this, it is just one of my “go to’s” when I have a sore throat or don’t feel good. It always helps me tremendously.
Chloraseptic® Spray and/or Lozenges
With cold and the flu season, comes runny noses and coughs that make throats raw and sore. Chloraseptic® is the # 1 sore throat relief brand that provides fast-acting relief for sore throats and mouth pain to help you get through your day and night. My favorite time to use Chloraseptic® Spray is at night before bed. Plus, they have a new Cherry flavor that is really good. I prefer to use Chloraseptic® Lozenges during the day while at work. Chloraseptic® lozenges have a soothing liquid center that relieves pain and cools nasal passages almost instantly. Use this Chloraseptic® coupon to stock your cabinet with any Chloraseptic® product.
Saltwater
Another thing I like to do is gargle with warm saltwater before bedtime. This normally doesn’t provide super immediate relief, but does seem to help in the long run to soothe and heart my throat.
Zinc Tablets
I mentioned Zinc above in Vitamin Water and another thing is helpful is taking actual Zinc tablets. I have found that they help get rid of my sore throat way faster. Zinc is known to help your body resist infections so it is helpful for colds as well.
Tea
Drinking warm tea, especially with honey can really help a sore throat. Studies show that honey coats the throat and eases inflammation, as well as helps to suppress coughing. Some teas also help strengthen your immune system and others simply numb your throat, making your symptoms less painful and unpleasant.
Whether you use one of these methods or all of these methods, I hope your sore throat goes away quickly. What other methods have you found that help soothe a sore throat?
