Baby proofing your home is serious business. The safety of your child is one of the top things you think about as a parent. You try to do everything possible to create a safe space for your child to learn, grow and explore. As first time parents, we really feel like we are still “learning as we go”. Since Brooke started to crawl in February, we have known that we needed to take the leap and purchase items to baby proof our home. We just had no clue what we were doing, so we took a trip to buybuyBABY a few weeks ago. They really helped set us up with everything we needed to baby proof our home.
I cannot stress enough how much I LOVE buybuyBABY. They have the nicest, most knowledgable staff I have ever experienced. Each of their staff is fully equipped to answer your questions and point you in the right direction. They even played with Brooke while we made decisions and checked out. They were so incredibly friendly. Every time I step foot into a buybuyBABY, I love them more and more. I know I am going on and on about them, and your probably thinking, this a sponsored post, of course she is -however, that is not the case. I cannot express enough how impressed I am with their business. & we may have had the best time playing in the store (I just love these photos)!
Now that I have bragged on my awesome experiences at buybuyBABY, I want to break down the must haves for our family. There are whole sections dedicated to baby safety online and in stores, so I know it can be overwhelming. Here are 7 things that we had to have:
We have a two story house, so baby gates were a huge must have. We decided to go with the Brica Auto Close Metal Gate, it is a buybuyBABY exclusive and we love it! It was easy to install, matches our white stairway and is very sturdy. I highly recommend this gate.
This is one of the most common baby safety items used and most likely, you already have this. It is a popular baby shower gift and really starts to come in more handy during nap time. Being able to see when Brooke is sleeping, verses standing up trying to chew on the side of her bed is a huge bonus.
The Puj Ultra Soft Spout Cover is a great option for a facet cover. Once Brooke started moving around in the tub, I knew we would need this. All of her toys gather down by the water spout because of the slight tub angle, so she ends up where her toys are, thus bumping her head on the faucet.
While Brooke isn’t quite interested in opening all of our cabinets yet, I know that it is coming soon. She has opened my bathroom cabinet once, so I know it isn’t far away. We decided to grab a few packages of these and install them.
I love these textured Grippy Dots by Munchkin® because they not only help prevent slipping in the tub, but they also help parents regulate the temperature of the bath water. They are a great dual purpose item to have.
You might not immediately think of a shopping cart cover as a “safety” item, however, it really is – it can protect your baby from all kinds of germs and unwanted stuff left behind in shopping carts/high chairs. We primarily use this because Brooke likes to eat the side of the cart (lol). It has been a great buy for us.
The first thing Brooke gravitated towards when she started to crawl were all of our outlets and cords. I have no clue why those outlets look so fun to babies, but they do, so we stock up on outlet covers for every plug in our house.
I hope that this really helped you decide on a few safety items to baby proof your home. If you are still struggling to decide between certain brands or products, I highly encourage you to take a trip to your nearest buybuyBABY. They are incredibly helpful!
