In case you missed my post on Friday and on social media, we have great news! Clarke Little #2 is joining the party in March of 2017! & We are insanely excited. If you were around here for when Brooke was born, you know that she was a big surprise. However, this pregnancy was definitely planned. I remember thinking about 5 minutes after Brooke was born that “I would totally do this again”. I pretty much knew immediately that I wanted more kids and the months after just solidified the notion for both of us. Kevin and I have both LOVED being parents so much. Brooke is such an immense joy that we couldn’t wait to have another child. We knew that we wanted our kids to be close in age, so after a few discussions and prayers, we started trying for baby #2.
On a Tuesday in July, I couldn’t wait any longer to take a pregnancy test. Brooke and I had been home all day because she had a fever and ear infection. Needless to say, sitting around the house all day made me really anxious to take a test. Kevin and I decided that we would take it when he got home. Kevin walked in the door from work, Brooke was in the middle of eating dinner, and I ran to the bathroom to take the test. I brought it back out, sat it on the table, and the three of us waited (even though Brooke had no idea what we were doing). I remember Kevin asking me what I thought it would say and I said “Its gonna say no, because its stupid.” Then, a big all caps PREGNANT, popped up on the screen. We both hugged, kissed and jumped up and down. We were so excited that Brooke got all excited and started clapping. It was such a sweet moment of celebration for all of us.
That night we went to dinner with friends and then came home and facetimed our parents to tell them the good news. They weren’t as surprised this time, because they knew we were trying, but they were so excited to be grandparents again. We talked to Kevin’s sisters the next day, who were also very excited to be aunts again, and my doctor wanted me to come in for blood work that day too. I had two rounds of blood work the first week, and then an ultrasound the next week. All of my blood work came back amazing and the ultrasound looked perfect. It was too early to see or hear a heartbeat yet, but the doctor said everything looked exactly how it was suppose to look.
At this point, I started brainstorming how we would announce this precious baby to everyone else. I saw this book idea on Pinterest and thought it was perfect. I had seen the “I’m a Big Sister” book at Target, so I ran and picked it up. Brooke of course, loved a little mini photoshoot, and then I designed the announcement on Minted. Minted is my absolute favorite site for invitations, announcements, and cards. I just love their customization options and that they address your envelopes for you, for FREE!! #winning
I love the way our pregnancy announcement turned out and we put them in the mail to family early last week. On Thursday of last week, we had another doctor appointment and sonogram. We got to see our little baby’s heartbeat and it was just as amazing as hearing Brooke’s. It is really such a sweet moment when everything becomes so real. I just am so incredibly thankful and feel extremely blessed that we are getting to experience all of this a second time. Now, the planning begins and anticipation until we find out the gender of Clarke Little #2.

I’m so excited for you and your family!!! I honestly don’t know if we’re going to try for a second baby. I’m still dealing with morning sickness and I’m 21 weeks and 4 days pregnant. But then some days I’m like yea, I definitely want another. Even though Jesse says he wants Irish twins, it’s not happening. if we have a 2nd baby, it will be after we have sold our house and moved into a bigger one in 3 years. So we shall see. I can’t wait to read all of your posts about this journey with baby #2!
