I was not planning on writing today, but I just really wanted to share this with you. Let me start by saying that I consider prayer to be very intimate and powerful. Prayer has always come “easy” for me. { I am by no means perfect at it and fail most of the time according to God’s standards, but “easy” meaning that I think about it a lot} I love praying. Things just pop in my head throughout the day to pray about.
However, I would have to say that before our marriage, my prayers for Kevin were “simple”. “God please be with him, push him, protect him, teach him this…, help him with this..” However, in the past year and half, my eyes have truly been opened in terms of praying for him intimately.
In our first month of marriage, someone introduced me to “Power of a Praying Wife” by Stormie O’Martian. This book changed the way I pray for Kevin, my marriage, my relationship with God, and my life. If you don’t own it, BUY IT! It will change the way you pray for your husband and cherish him.
One of the main things I have learned in the book is about praying for attributes of my husband’s character. For example, praying for his integrity in the workplace. The other thing main thing I learned was to pray for God to help me be a good wife {to take away my selfishness and impatience}.
Short Example: God, I pray that you would make {insert your husband’s name} a man of integrity according to your standards. Enable him to stand up for what is right and live by the truth of your word. “The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them.” – Proverbs 11:3
If God asks us to pray for our enemies, how much more should we be praying for our husbands – If we are not untied, everything will fall apart. “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.” Matthew 12:25
Today, ask God how to teach you how to pray for your husband and show you what unconditional love really is. My prayer is that each of your marriages will grow stronger each day.

Great Post! My mom got me this book on me and husband’s 1 year wedding anniversary and it is very powerful! I love how on each chapter she breaks down why and how you should pray for your husband. Awesome book:) I try my best to cover my husband and children in prayer. Thanks for the reminder to be more specific during my prayer time! Crazy thing is I almost started reading it again last night but picked up something else so I will definitely revisit this book soon! God Bless
