We have been so overjoyed since finding out we are pregnant with our second baby. Now that we are over half way there and know that we are having a little guy this time, we seriously can’t wait to meet him. One of the first things I did after finding out the gender of our babe was head to buybuy BABY to start our 2nd baby registry. Luckily, since our babies will be so close in age, we have a lot of necessities already, however, we do need a few “boy” things this time around because we bought them in pink last time. The great thing about a 2nd Baby is that you really know what you need a lot more. Here is a list of 2nd Baby Registry Must Haves I put together to make registering a breeze.
ESSENTIALS
Furniture: Well, you most likely need some form of furniture for this new baby. Typically, you would need a Crib, Dresser and/or Changing Table and maybe a bookshelf or something else. However, we are using Brooke’s crib and dresser and turning her room into a toddler room. This is way cheaper than buying a whole other crib and it is the perfect time to transition her to a toddler room. We are going to start this before the baby arrives so she doesn’t feel like the baby stole her bed.
Crib Bedding: Since we are having a boy, we will need all new crib bedding as well. Brooke is keeping her mattress, so we will need a mattress, 2 mattress protectors, 2 sheets, and a crib skirt.
Double Stroller: We are still going back and forth about which brand of double stroller we want to buy, but we are deciding between the UppaBaby and the Baby Jogger City Select. They are both very similar and we love them. A double stroller is MUST, because we use our stroller all the time for Brooke and she loves it.
Car Seat: We are planning on using the same car seat we had for Brooke for the little man. A car seat made the list because it is a must have, by law. I know some people like to just buy a new one, but we tried to keep ours in good condition for baby number two.
Playyard: This is another item we are gong to reuse. We decided to just have one playyard for now and see how it goes. We are transitioning Brooke to a toddler bed, so hopefully when we travel she will sleep in a bed or on a pallet on the floor.
Double Monitor: We plan to still use a monitor in both rooms, so a double monitor makes the most sense for us. Our current monitor expands to two cameras and we already have everything we need for that.
SOOTHING
Blankets: The most used blankets around our house are hands down Adan & Anais swaddles. We had a set of 4 with Brooke and they are very well loved. In fact, she is napping with one as I type this and carried one around all morning. We are for sure grabbing a set for the little man.
Pacifier: We love wubbanubs in our house. Brooke had two, a lamb and a giraffe. I think we are going to get an elephant for the little guy and then let him have her giraffe as well. We used pacifiers for the first 6-9 months then, they magically disappeared. However, we still let Brooke have lamby if she is sick or we are traveling.
Rock N Play: This item was fantastic until Brooke grew out of it. I would love to say that we were smart and bought a gender neutral one the first time, but hers was pink, so we will be registering for a blue one this time.
Mama Roo: We still have our Mamaroo from Brooke, so we will be pulling that out of the attic asap.
Stuffed Animal: My favorite brand of stuffed animals is Jellycat, but Brooke has a TY puppy that she is in love with as well. I am thinking about getting the little man a lion and an elephant for his stuffed animals.
FEEDING
Bottle: We used Avent bottles with Brooke and they worked great. We have half clear and half pink, so I have a set of 3 blue Avent bottles on our registry.
Milk Storage: I love the ease of Kiinde milk storage. While the bottles didn’t work for us, I really loved the cap and the shape of the bags. I actually still have two boxes of these from Brooke, so I think we are all set on storage bags.
Booster Seat/High Chair: We have loved this Ingenuity Baby seat with Brooke, so this was an easy decision for baby number 2. Brooke still uses it as a booster now, so we will be needing a second one.
Lanolin: A major must if you are planning nursing. I still have two unopened bottles from Brooke, so we are set here as well.
DIAPERING
Diapers: An obvious MUST HAVE!! We registered for Newborn – Size 2 diapers. We are hoping to have Brooke potty trained at least during the day by the time the new baby is born.
Wipes: You can never have too many wipes, so we registered for these as well.
Ointment: Desitin is our favorite, we like the rapid relief and maximum strength.
Changing Pad Liners: We had two sets of these with Brooke and we used them A LOT. So much so that we need another set for this baby. We used them on top of the changing pad to catch any accidents and for changing on the go. We also used them for long car rides in the car seat in case of blowouts. They are a dream.
BATH TIME
Towels: We have some neutral towels from Brooke, so we only registered for one set of blue towels.
Washcloths: The same for wash cloths, we already have a lot but we just added a few blue.
Bathtub: A MUST!! I hated our bath tub with Brooke, I mean hated it. I couldn’t wait to throw it away. I hoping this Angelcare Bath tub works way better.
Brush: We have a lot of “grooming” items from Brooke but just need a brush and comb for the little guy.
PLAY TIME
We have a lot of toys in our house and most are gender neutral thankfully, however we want him to have a few toys of his own and love this Piano Gym, rattle, soft books and Blocks for starters.
CLOTHING
This is the biggest category for us since we are having boy this time. If we would have had another girl, we would need no clothes, because we kept all of Brooke’s, however, now its on to cute boy clothes. I know we will need Short Sleeve Onesies, Long Sleeve Onesies, Sleepers and a few cute outfits like these jeans and top.
Having a baby is such an exciting time! Congrats if you are expecting baby number 2 or even baby number 1! I hope this list helps you feel more prepared and ready to conquer your registry! buybuy BABY is our favorite place to shop for baby needs because of their awesome selection and knowledge staff. I hope you have a great experience as well!

For the double stroller, I have and recommended the BabyJogger. The main reasons being the seats are the same and the basket is bigger. Also, I felt with other doubles one kid was sitting in the basket and made it unusable.
Classic Kolbs
It’s definitely different the second time around. With baby #1 you never know what to get or what to use but by the time the second one is coming, you definitely know what is a MUST and what you don’t really need. Michael is just 2 weeks younger than Brooke, so let me know how you guy’s go about transitioning her to toddler bed. Michael puts himself to sleep at night but I’m afraid that a toddler bed will involve him getting up a lot so I’m really trying to figure out the best method to keeping him in bed.
