While a lot the people I know have already put up their Christmas tree and pulled out their Christmas music, we still have our Thanksgiving decor out and are preparing for a great festive day with family. Don’t get me wrong, I am very excited for Christmas, and I am super ready to bust out our Christmas decor as well, but Thanksgiving has always held a special place in my heart. My family has a few traditions when it comes to Thanksgiving that I love. We tend to celebrate Thanksgiving “eve” pretty big with a meal, playing games, doing crafts and other family projects. Then, Thanksgiving morning, we ALWAYS watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®.
This has been a favorite holiday tradition of mine for as long as I can remember. I can recall so many Thanksgiving mornings sitting in front of the television with my breakfast and family all around, watching the parade. This holiday will be no different, this year marks a milestone 90th anniversary for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®. I know it will be an unparalleled spectacle as they march down the streets of New York City with over 3.5 million spectators lining the streets of Manhattan and over 50 million viewers on television. There will be gift character balloons, dazzling floats, the nation’s best marching bands and performance groups, celebrities, and the official entrance of the one-and-only Santa Claus.
But, there is something NEW! This year, Macy’s is launching a Macy’s Time Traveler App and a set of emojis to help you celebrate one of the nations greatest traditions! The Macy’s Time Traveler app will let you interact with the Macy’s Day Parade in the comfort of your home. You can also find and capture balloons in your local Macy’s stores through a virtual reality and make a customized parade of your own, as well as learn about the history of the Macy’s Parade and take a vintage selfie.
And for those in New York, they’ll be able to view what the parade looked like in previous decades while in Herald Square. This fully rendered, 3D virtual reality environment will allow users to see what the buildings of Herald Square looked like in the 30s, 60s, or 80s. How cool is that?! There is a preview in the picture above, it was so awesome seeing the buildings and parade from that year.
On top of that, Macy’s has provided a fun way to communicate with your friends and family whether they’re near or far. Their new emojis are a fun way to continue your already festive conversations. Excited for turkey dinner? There’s an emoji for that. Ready to see your favorite characters as floats? Express it with emojis!
I know I can’t wait for family time watching the parade this year and I already have these awesome apps. You can get them too for FREE! Download the Macy’s Parade Time Traveler App on Google Play or iOS and download the Macy’s Parade Stickers (Emojis) on Google Play or iOS.
