Well, we have been keeping a little secret and I can now officially say after over a year of prayer and hard work, we are officially MOVING! It has been a journey and lately, a whirlwind, but I am so excited that we are moving back closer to our family in the Houston area. If you have been around here for a while, you might know that Kevin and I started dating in High School and ended up going to college in San Antonio. After graduation and marriage, we assumed we would move back to the Houston area, however, we both received job offers in San Antonio.
While we love San Antonio, our hearts have always been in Houston with our family. We grew up around our grandparents, and once Brooke was born, we longed for her to have the same experiences we did as kids. We spent many nights in prayer, then last summer, when we found out we were pregnant with Baby Kev, the timing just felt right. Amidst the decision to move, Kevin decided to start taking steps to change his career as well. After a few years of subtle nudges, he really felt called to become a teacher.
So, for the past year amidst our rough pregnancy journey, in the background Kevin was working day in and day out studying. I cannot brag on my husband enough for this. He would work tirelessly all day, come home to take care of me and Brooke, then stay up late studying. His dedication, passion and endurance was inspiring.
He passed all of his tests and did all of his classroom hours. After that, he applied for jobs and we waited patiently. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait for long. We honestly didn’t expect him to have an interview until June or July – but he was called for an interview mid May and was offered a 7th Grade Texas History position and coaching job. The best part – 20 minutes from our parents house.
I cannot tell you how unreal it felt. We have both prayed so long and worked so hard to get to this point. Then, for God to open up the doors, we just feel so incredibly blessed. We have a very realistic expectation that 2017 is going to be (and has been) a very tough year. We are experiencing every big life change – I quit my job to be a SAHM and blog full time, we had a baby, Kevin is changing careers, we are moving and we are trying to potty train a toddler. Needless to say, our life is pretty much a beautiful chaos right now with lots of Starbucks.
We got our house “show ready” very quickly, because we knew that it could take some time. But, we put our house on the market at the beginning of June and it went under contract in less than 24 hours. This was just another sign to us that God was opening more doors. We have called San Antonio home for over 10 years and will miss it dearly, but are so excited to begin our new journey as a family of four in HOU!!
