WOW! Does anyone else feel like summer just flew by? Between a new baby, selling our house, our move and family events, this summer has flown by so quick. I still can’t believe i’m staring at August in my planner. Its time to trade in pool days for school days now that it is back to school season and today i’m sharing 5 Ways To Prepare for Back To School.
Clothes Shopping
The first thing I think of when I hear back to school is clothes shopping! For as long as I can remember, my mom and I would always stock up on great deals for the season. I love that I can do what with my daughter now and our go-to this year was OshKosh B’Gosh! OshKosh has so many cool and stylish outfits that you can mix and match. This is perfect for your younger kids that love to pick out their own outfits! Brooke is in the phase where she wants to choose everything, so I can give her lots of options that all end up matching (win-win). I love how this lets her express her personal style.
When it comes to her wardrobe, we love having a base of leggings and tops that are more play clothes and comfortable then some great dressier pieces for dinner, shopping, school pictures or days we just feel like dressing up! And, you always need a great pair of jeans or two or four – Plus in 2014, OshKosh launched their The B’gosh Jeanius Campaign as an annual effort to support our customer’s local communities with donated clothing and school supply needs. Since then, they’ve partnered with DonorsChoose.org, Delivering Good (formerly K.I.D.S. fashion delivers), OshKosh Moms, families and friends to collect over $1.1 million and distribute more than 66,000 articles of clothing to impact the lives of over 260,000 students. You can join their effort this year by donating a new pair of jeans in-store or making a cash contribution in-store or online at oshkosh.com/bgoshjeanius from July 25 through September 18. And, share your “shop to give style” on social media using #BgoshJeanius.
Routine
Start getting back into your routine early! With summer comes new schedules, family vacations, late night fun and so many other activities. These things are so fun, but can push your kids’ bedtime back later. On top of that comes sleeping in. All of this combined can really make it hard to get back in the swing of early mornings, bedtimes, and homework. Start working back into your normal routine and also give yourself a little break. The first week of school might be rough, but whose isn’t?!
Gather Supplies
My second favorite part of back to school is school supply shopping. There is something about a new box of crayons that just excites me and I have always geeked out over a clean, fresh planner. You may have to wait for specific lists from teachers to go shopping, but you can normally get your base shopping out of the way before hand and then go pick up last minute items. By having the bulk of your shopping done, you can get in and out of stores quicker during those busy first few nights.
Last minute Fun
While your to do list may be growing at a very high rate, don’t forget to sneak in some last minute fun! You are about to be in routines and your schedule will get full very quick. Take some time for have family movie nights, visit local parks, have special late game nights, etc. Visit the pool as often as you can and just make time for FUN!!
Stock Up on Snacks
While your grocery bill may have skyrocketed during the summer, there is something special about after school snacks. I always loved when my mom had a line up of great snacks ready for me and my friends. Lets be real, I still love when my mom has a great line up of snacks waiting for me. So, be sure to stock up on all the essentials before school starts.
