7 Prayers For Your Children

Two weeks ago, I wrote 7 Prayers For A Better Marriage and it really inspired me to share all types of other prayers in the coming weeks. I know sometimes it can be hard to find the right words to pray. I have had friends say “I just don’t know where to start”. My response is to just start talking! But, I love to share prayers from my heart here and on Facebook page to encourage others in their walk and prayer life. My prayer is that these prayers help guide you or spark your prayer life. However, at the end of the day, they are simply prayers I have prayed in my life. 7 days of the week, 7 prayers for your children.

Lord, I pray:

For Their Heart

Lord, I don’t recall a time not knowing your name. I have been incredibly blessed to grow up in a home filled with your presence and I pray that for my children. Lord, I pray that they would not recall a day not knowing you. I pray that you would rescue their hearts a young age. I pray that they would be able to fully grasp who you are and what you have done for them. I pray that our house would be filled with Your Word, with Your Love, with Your Grace, with YOU. I pray that they would love you and seek you all of their days. AMEN.

For Kindness

Lord, you are so so kind to us. Oh, that we would be kind to one another and others. I pray that my children would develop a deep kindness for one another and that they would love each other deeply. I pray that they would be unbelievingly kind to others. I love seeing kindness through their eyes of waving at strangers and meeting friends at the park. May that never go away. May they always see the world through eyes of kindness. I pray that their hearts would remain this kind. In a world that is very concerned with “self”, may they seek You first and put others before themselves. AMEN.

For Grace

I have tasted and seen Your Grace. I see Your Grace in every aspect of parenting and I pray we give grace freely to one another. We are four sinners living under one roof 24/7 together. We need grace. We fall short. I pray that we would always extend grace to each other and others. I also pray that we would share this grace with others. May we take hold of teachable moments Lord and share Your Grace. AMEN.

For Their Friendships

Lord, I know apart from their family, friends will be a huge influence in their lives. I pray for Godly friendships. I pray that you would place people in their lives that would point them toward you. I pray for wise choices and kind hearts. I pray that they would be able to experience the joy of friendships and I pray that you would help us guide them to good friends. I also pray that you would help us teach them how to be a good friend to others. In your name I pray, AMEN.

For Their Protection

Lord, I admit that I like to to feel in control and I have never felt more out of control than when I became a parent. There are so many things I cannot control. I pray for my child’s safety and protection. I pray protection over their sleep and protection over their play. I know that my children are a gift from you. Lord, may you bless me with many years with them. May they be sheltered from the evil of the world and may you protect them tragedy and sickness. Protect them from poor choices, and protect them from harm. Thank you Lord, AMEN.

For Their Joy

Lord, I know that true joy comes from you and being in your presence. I just ask for joy, Lord. I ask for joy in my day displayed through laugher, kindness and appreciation. I also pray for joy through our trials. I know that joy isn’t solely based on things going my way, its based on my position with you. God, grant me a joyful heart in all times. May my children experience the Joy that only comes from you. May they have immense joy in their life. Amen.

For Their Parents

Lord, I pray for my children’s parents. I pray that you would guide them in your wisdom. I pray for patience and endurance. I pray for grace and for love. Lord, teach me how to be parent each of my children in exactly the way they need. Help me to see my child’s gifts and cultivate them. Give me wisdom Father. In Your Name I pray, AMEN.
