If you are traveling to Houston soon or live in the area, take note! I told Kevin all I wanted for my birthday was a romantic getaway with my husband. We quickly decided on downtown Houston because there are so many romantic spots that make it a great place to stay! We love getting away to downtown Houston, because it’s a fun big city with a lot to offer! We honestly haven’t been downtown since moving back to the area so it was such a treat to have fun getaway there.
Where To Stay
The theme for our getaway was ROMANTIC, so we decided to stay at Hotel Alessandra. Hotel Alessandra is a high-end luxury hotel in Houston that boasts 21-stories of beautiful architecture and carefully curated rooms. Alessandra’s concierge ensures you have everything for a memorable and distinctive stay, beginning with valet upon arrival. You enter the hotel and immediately experience sophistication and elegance with a beautiful staircase. Check in was a breeze and our bags were taken up to our room. Now, our room was nothing less than amazing. It had custom Valencia Group bedding, premium linens, lounge seating, marble-clad bathrooms, a free standing tub, walk in shower and plenty of space. You seriously feel so relaxed just walking in the room (& they have monogram robes and full size Nespresso machines in each room). Plus, we had such an amazing night sleep in the comfy bed!
We got settled in and decided to explore the hotel. We headed up to the gorgeous roof-top pool first. It had such a beautiful skyline view of the city. You can also retreat to the fifth floor to destress at the fitness center, or rejuvenate in Spa by Alessandra. After exploring, we headed to dinner which was within walking distance of the hotel.
Where To Eat
This brings me to…. where to eat. There are so many great romantic places to eat downtown including Lucienne an upscale Mediterranean restaurant serving Continental European Cuisine within Hotel Alessandra. The executive chef Jose Hernandez brings his French technique to life with a one-of-a-kind spin crafted from 20 years of experience around the world. However, we were in the mood for steak, so we headed to III Forks which is just a short walk from the hotel.
III Forks Steakhouse is so romantic and offers the finest USDA Prime steak, mouthwatering, buttery lobster, and ocean-fresh seafood prepared to perfection. They hand-select their USDA Prime and only deem the top .005% of beef acceptable. My steak was seriously so tender, juicy and flavorful – easily the best steak I’ve ever had. Overall the restaurant provided extremely intimate surroundings for a fabulous fine dining experience.
Where to Explore
The restaurant was located in the GreenStreet area of downtown Houston. Within GreenStreet, you’ll find amazing culinary options ranging from local Tex-Mex favorites to top national restaurants such as III Forks Steakhouse and McCormick & Schmick’s. They also offer shopping and entertainment such as a jazz bar, piano bar, and spa. It also has this super fun “Sugar & Cloth Color Wall”, located on the Main St block of GreenStreet and it is every Instagrammer’s dream.

Where To Play
We also caught a baseball game during our stay. (Sidenote: My husband was a baseball player through college so while baseball might not sound romantic to some, it is very romantic to us, because it brings back so many amazing memories). Did I mention that Hotel Alessandra provides Complimentary Maserati car service in downtown so you can ride in style?
Where To Relax
The next morning, we enjoyed room service breakfast. They also have Barista Coffee and Breakfast Service in Bardot Bar and Lounge within the hotel. Then, we headed to the pool. We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and they even have a seasonal poolside bar. It’s nice to just layout, enjoy the skyline and great atmosphere.

Overall, this was such a relaxing, romantic getaway in downtown Houston. I am so thankful we decided to stay at Hotel Alessandra, it really pushed our getaway over the top and made the whole getaway have a romantic vibe. They had it all! Great location, luxury, excellence, dining, relaxation and play! We couldn’t have asked for more.
