It has been a month since our last update and we have had quite a few accomplishments! We knew the first month would go slightly slower due to certain surveys and inspections our neighborhood requires. We had about a week delay for rain and I am happy to report that we are moving along.
Since my last update, we had surveyors come out and mark the edges of our house to ensure our dirt work was being done within our setback lines for the house. Once the edges were marked, dirt work began and went quickly. After the dirt work, we had to have the surveyors out again to re-mark the edges of the house to ensure accuracy. Once that was done, the forms were then set and along came the rain. We opted to wait for in-ground plumbing until after the rain cleared (which worked out great). It rained for about two days, then we waited for the lot to dry out. After about a week delay, the in-ground plumbing was set and then our slab was poured.
It was such an exciting day when we actually poured our slab. Brooke kept saying “we have a floor, now where’s the kitchen?” – Leave to my kid to worry about where the food will be (lol). We also started picking a few items for the house this month. We looked at window colors, decided on inside doors, decided on outside lights and most indoor lights, as well as, found an amazing modern barn door company for a fun feature door. Some of our lights from Kichler got here as well!
We are making progress! Framing started this week and it really feels like things are coming together now (head to my insta-stories for a sneak peek). We have both been looking forward to the days of picking out favorites for the house and it is finally beginning. So, to recap – overall we officially have a slab poured and framing up! These were big accomplishments this month.
