My Winter Morning Self-Care Routine

“This post is sponsored by Mirum, but opinions expressed are my own.”

winter morning self-care routineSince the beginning of January, you have most likely heard me talk about how we are simplifying this year. This also includes my morning routine. I have been working hard to keep my routine simple, effective and positive. I have noticed that my morning routine changes slightly depending on the season so I am also incorporating “seasonal” aspects of self-care into my routine.  One thing has always helped me destress, and that is having a good morning routine. I feel like most of the time, if I start my day out good, the rest of the day follows so I thought I would share a glimpse into my Winter Morning Self-Care Routine.

winter morning routineClear Emails and Plan

The first thing I currently do when I wake up is roll over and check my emails and planner.  Having a plan for our day is essential to my success juggling Simply Clarke, our schedule and building our house. I find that when I don’t have a plan for our day, I either don’t get things done or I forget something important. I carefully plan out my week in my planner and be sure to write everything down. I also like to keep a very clean email. When my inbox is exploding, I can’t think straight so it is one of the first things I do in the morning.

winter morning routineStart With Something You Love

I am a big morning person, so getting out of bed isn’t a problem for me, but I always start my day with something I love – a very tall glass of iced coffee or some other caffeine. With two kids, caffeine is a big necessity. Before kids, I was always a 10:30 bedtime type of person, but now, it seems like every night we don’t get to bed until after midnight.

winter morning routineSelf-care

You can’t give from an empty cup. Be sure you are taking care of yourself. For me, this is so important in Winter. I MUST keep up with my moisturizing routine or my skin is easily left feeling dry or ends up cracking. The past few weeks, I have been using Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair that I grabbed from CVS and it is doing wonders for my skin. I have always struggled with dry skin, especially in Winter, so great products are essential! You can try select Vaseline products for $6.99 at CVS with your CVS card from 1/27/19 – 2/2/19.

I have heard great things about the Vaseline line up of products. They have: Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair is an unscented body lotion that works to moisturize dry skin through microdroplets of Vaseline Jelly to lock in moisture. It deeply moisturized to heal dry skin in five days. It is best for dry skin and sensitive skin (it was awarded the National Eczema Seal of Acceptance). They also have Vaseline Cocoa Butter which is made of  100% pure cocoa and shea butters, known to reveal skin’s natural radiance. This works best for dry skin, dull skin or rough skin. Another amazing product in their line up is Vaseline Intensive Care Essential Healing. It is clinically proven to keep dry skin healed for 3 weeks, as proven after 4 weeks daily use and it works best for dry skin or rough skin.

winter morning routineMe Time

In a perfect world, I like to wake up early and have a little me time before the kids wake up. I either have a quite time or watch one of my shows. If I don’t get to do this in the morning, I try to have me time during nap time. I have found that this is crucial to a successful day. You pour out so much of yourself to your family all day long and you need some time to fill your tank. So, alone with “self-care” I do something for me like read my devotional or work out.

winter morning routineGet Dressed

Yep, get ready. This isn’t always practical for me every morning, but I try to do at least one thing. I either do my hair or my make up. Some days, if we are running errands or I am working on a project, I get fully ready. For me, I just feel more productive and better about myself when I take the time to get ready.

Like I mentioned above, an essential part of being product is feeling better about yourself. If you are struggling with dry skin this season, be sure to grab one of these amazing Vaseline products at CVS so that you can achieve truly healthy skin this winter. I hope these ideas from my morning routine help you in establishing a great routine that works for you!
