I’ll start this off by saying, you know that I don’t do book reviews often, however, I do post about practical ways to encourage women throughout their marriage, so I just couldn’t pass up this opportunity to share about a new book from Aaron and Jennifer Smith, Marriage After God. I can’t tell you how much the Smith’s have blessed my life not only professionally, but through their ministry to marriages and families as well.
They have written numerous books that have touched my life and transformed my heart into greater pursuit of Christ: Wife After God, 31 Prayers for my son, 31 Prayers for my daughter, and The Unveiled Wife are just a few of them!
Marriage After God: What is it about?
It’s obvious that Jennifer & Aaron Smith wrote this out of an authentic and intense experience with God in their own marriage. Aaron puts it best,
“ When Jennifer and I considered what spurred us toward a desire to serve God together, we agreed that it was our belief that God could and would use us as a team for His glory. How it works
This book is an amazing read and I highly suggest both you and your spouse read it together. Kevin and I typically read books separately and make notes, then discuss chapters together about how it applies to our marriage or what touched our hearts. I love how The Smith’s lay out the definition of a Marriage after God, then go on to building a firm foundation.
It is God’s Word and His Word alone that we, as faithful men and women, stand on.
After that, they speak into how to equip yourself with the tools you need in your marriage. They, then, speak to dreaming together and making an impact.
Each section has important reflection questions that really help guide you on your journey through the book. I highly encourage you to write out your answers and prayerfully reflect these questions.
