My kids now LOVE the beach. I was honestly slightly surprised at how much they loved our beach trip this year. Baby Kevin couldn’t get enough of the water. He kept crawling down to the water and wanted to jump right in. He and Brooke also liked playing in the sand a lot. I knew they would love the water, but I was surprised at how much they liked the sand too. We honestly had such an amazing trip and there were a few products that we grabbed from buybuy BABY that made our beach trip a success:
Umbrella Chair
You NEED shade. It can get so hot near the beach and you need to make sure you have shade if you are going to be out all day. We rented adult umbrella chairs and these little kid umbrella chairs come in handy! You can have your kids cool off under the umbrella for a quick snack and water break. A good umbrella chair is a must have!
Toys
Our next most used item was a good set or two of beach buckets, shovels, and castle making gear! The kids played with buckets and shovels so long. They would scoop up sand and dump it back in the ocean. Then they would dig holes, fill up buckets with water, bring the water back to the hole, dump the water in and be amazed at how the water disappeared into the sand. Brooke must have done this 60 times one day while we were out at the beach. It was such great entertainment.
Towel
You will also need a towel to dry off or even sit on if you are laying in the sand. We honestly barely used towels as we walked back to our beach house. They were nice to have to dry off and cover up with though! We also used them to help keep sand out of the kids eyes.
Water Cup
Another MUST! Keep yourself and your kids hydrated with a cold cup of water. We iced down waters each morning and took the kids’ cups with us down to the beach. We reminded them often to come sit under the umbrella and take a drink to stay hydrated.
Sunscreen
Speaking of staying hydrated from the sun. Don’t forget about protecting your skin as well. I feel like our little family tanned so much quicker at the beach than normal. We used a lot of sunscreen and re-applied often. Thankfully, none of us got sunburned bad at all – that made the experience a lot better!
Portable Fan
A portable fan is a great option if you have a little baby or toddler in your family. Our nephew is about nine months younger than Baby Kevin and it came in so handy. Plus, I just like having one of these for our stroller too. It can get so hot for little babies!
Life Jacket
We saw plenty of kids running around without life jackets on, but we felt way safer having our kids in life jackets. We know that currents are strong, but we just felt more comfortable with a little protection. We never let them be unattended but accidents happen so quick.
Overall, keep it simple! You can easily haul a whole car full of stuff with you to the beach, but you just need a few key items from buybuy BABY to do the trick.
