There are so many things people tell you while you are pregnant and after you give birth. They say you will have cravings, your skin will break out, it will take a little bit to loose the weight, have your baby sleep on their back, and do tummy time; the list is endless. However, there is one thing no one told me, my hair and skin might became extremely dry. I have been battling dry skin and hair since my first trimester and now continue to battle it while I am breastfeeding. I have never experienced dryness to this extent, so I have had to adjust a few things in my beauty routine. Here are my 3 Postpartum Beauty Tips to combat dryness:
Tip 1: Moisturize at a new level
I have had to switch up my moisturizing routine, because it wasn’t working to the extent I needed. After doing some research, I went to Target and picked up Jergen’s Wet Skin Moisturizer. I started using Jergen’s Wet Skin Moisturizer once I learned that it is better to moisturize your skin while it’s wet. It instantly absorbs into your wet skin, which locks in hydration at skin’s peak moisture moment giving you luminous skin. All you do is apply it to your wet skin, and dry off as normal. I love that it leaves your skin soft for a full 24 hours. It has made a big difference in my dry skin and it working for 24 hour is key. Being a new mom, I need quick, simple routines that are really effective and this one works wonders. You can even use Target Cartwheel to save 5% on Jergen’s Wet Skin Moisturizer.
Tip 2: Hydrating Hair Care
I have always had very curly/wavy hair that I have had to take care of a lot, because it gets exposed to more heat due to longer hair drying and straightening time. However, it had been way more dry since having Brooke. I have been researching and trying different restoring masks and heat protectant products. My current routine includes hydrating shampoo and conditioner, followed by a hydrating straightening conditioner, split end mender, and heat protectant. I then dry my hair after allowing my hair to air dry for 15-20 minutes. Before I straighten my hair, I use the heat protectant again. This has really seemed to be helping and I will be sharing a specific post about this topic soon!
Tip 3: Vitamins
Vitamins are so important. Since having Brooke, I have really learned the importance of vitamins to my overall health and my beauty routine. Specifically, Vitamin A, Vitamin B3, Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Vitamin E help with beauty. Vitamin E is key for moisture. It is proven to help skin retain its natural moisture. Eating healthy, getting sleep and taking appropriate vitamins has helped me a lot as well.
How will Jergen’s Wet Skin Moisturizer and the two other tips change your beauty routine?
