Kevin and I have been together for 10 years now and married for a little over 4 years. I can honestly say that we have always had and still have so much fun together. He is my very best friend and the person who makes me laugh the most. I love that we have such a fun marriage and life together. Sidenote: I took the picture above last Thursday of our friends who got engaged! Congrats Cherie and Devon!! We can’t wait for your beautiful wedding. Okay, now here are 10 Ways to Keep Your Marriage Fun that we have practiced:
1. Surprise Date Night
Date often. Find fun things to do in your city to mix it up a bit like glow in the dark mini golf, the movies, game places, etc. Randomly go on date nights, unplanned ones are super fun. Just suggest a date night during the day and let the evening unfold. Planned ones are fun too, with a new baby, we have to plan a little bit in advance now.
2. Little Notes
Leave little notes around the house for each other. After a long day at work, I like to leave an occasional note for Kevin on the door of the garage before he walks in the house. I have also left them on the milk jug and in his lunch kit. Get creative people!
3. Day Texting
Kevin and I text a lot throughout the day. We also call each other. I love texting him about life throughout the day or just random stuff. I will send him pictures or emoji’s as well. He likes Brooke pictures the best.
4. Date Night with friends
Some of my favorite nights have been on double dates with friends. We like to have dinner and game nights with a few couples and we also like to BBQ at home with friends. There a few couples we always laugh like crazy with and it just makes life so much fun. Add in Colby’s margaritas for more fun.
5. Reminiscing
Sometimes Kevin and I will just sit on the couch and look through old pictures or lay in bed and talk about the past. It is so fun to relive awesome moments in our life or even struggles that we have had together. Recently, we talked on the phone during the day about how fun it was to go to all my doctor appointments when I was pregnant, and just how exciting the day Brooke was born was.
6. Bring out your inner child
Run through the sprinklers. Buy roller skates and take a spin around the block. Have a nurf gun fight or better yet water gun fight. Play video games together. Do all the fun things you did when you were younger. So. Much. Fun.
7. Work on a project
Working on a project together can be so much fun. Paint a room in your house, wash your cars, do something together.
8. Roadtrip
We don’t get the chance to do this very often since Kevin works on Saturdays, but we love road trips together. We love driving home the most. We stop for lunch and listen to fun music along the way. We also talk and its just so much fun.
9. Explore
Go on a hike. See an outdoor movie. Explore around your city. Do something new you have never done before.
10. Host a party
This isn’t my number one favorite thing to do, but it can be so fun. Have a movie night with friends, game night, bible study, whatever. Or, if there is a big game on, have people over. Good food is a must and socialize.
