A little about me in case you haven’t read it yet, I love hair products. I am super picky about my hair, the products I use, and my hair stylist. I have super thick, curly hair and I like to straighten it most of the time. Because of this, I need a very good heat protectant. I have tried a ton of different brands over the years and these are my top 5 heat protectants in no particular order.
not your mothers – (Good) good smell, good value (Bad) a little sticky
living proof – (Good) best smell, my current favorite (Bad) price tag
chi – (Good) best practical use, less split ends (Bad) smell
tresemme – (Good) best rating, good price, nice texture (Bad) smell
tresemme keratin – (Good) best value, nice texture, good price (Bad) smell
I currently switch around with these five and occasionally mix in a new one to try out. Currently, I have Living Proof, Tresemme, and Biolage. Living Proof is my current favorite, however, it is pretty pricey considering I go through bottles very quick. So, I tend use Living Proof one day, then Tresemme. The Biolage one is not my favorite, so I haven’t really used it much lately (it leaves my hair feeling sticky). What is your favorite heat protectant? I love hearing about new brands.

I KNOW I am supposed to use heat protectant. But when I use it, I don’t notice a difference and maybe I am not supposed to. But how then do I find the best one for my hair?

I’ve been using a Vidal Sassoon one that I really like but they stopped making it! 🙁 My hair sounds pretty similar to yours (and I like to wear it straight more often than not) & I’m super picky too. Anything that feels heavy or sticky is out for me!

I LOVE both Tressemme products! They’re absolutely amazing. I spray the Keratin one on my damp hair even if I’m not blowdrying or straightening it simply because it leaves my hair feeling super soft and smooth 🙂

I use the CHI one. That one is good, I’m really happy with it. I don’t use it that much, so it lasts like forever 🙂
