We are a movie loving family, so family movie nights happen very regularly in our house. Because we watch movies so often, I have started brainstorming unique ways to make them an “experience” to create long lasting memories. In all honesty, our schedule gets very busy – so I don’t have time for “Pinterest” perfect movie set ups, but I do have time for “simple” things that are interactive and get our whole family involved. Sometimes, it might not be pretty, but we do it together and cuddle up to watch our favorites or fun new releases like the NEW Dolittle DVD available at Walmart and Walmart.com. Here are 5 Simple Ways To Make Movie Night a Hit:
Popcorn Mix
Popcorn is a staple movie night food. When my kids think of movie night, they think popcorn. But, you can put a fun twist on this classic by adding in other snack favorites like pretzels or chocolate. I also have a stash of fun popcorn buckets so they can pretend they are the movies and each have their own bucket. This is a simple way you can be “festive” without having to be too creative.
Snack Necklace
Letting the kids create a snack necklace is one of my favorite family movie night activities. It fills a lot of time, lets them work on their fine motor skills, brings out creativity and gives them a fun snack for the movie! Brooke got extremely creative on her necklace before the Dolittle Movie. She used a pattern of three and was so proud of her creation! I loved getting to watch the kids be creative and enjoy their snacks during the movie.
Pizza Dinner
Another great food option is having a pizza dinner during your movie! My kids LOVE pizza and we make it special by letting them eat in front of the TV during the movie. They normally only get to eat in the kitchen, so they love getting to eat one of their favorites while enjoying the film. You can also make this an activity by creating your own pizza. It’s a simple way to get everyone involved.
Family Fort
Creating a family fort is another one of my kids favorite movie night activities. They love cuddling up under a fort we made and enjoying the movie. For the Dolittle DVD, we made one out of blankets in the living room and they cuddled with their Dolittle animals we have to match the film. We also have a tent in their playroom that they like to use for movie nights too. Its a super easy way to add an extra element of fun to your movie! Another option could be an outside movie if you have a projector or want to set up your laptop! Get creative – really its just thinking of a fun new place to watch movies together.
Costumes/Pajamas
Get in character with costumes! If you don’t have the materials or costumes to match, I highly suggest getting in comfy pajamas. My kids dressed up in their pajamas, but then pretended they were animals to match the adventure of the Dolittle DVD.
These are just a few of the ways we make movie night in a hit in our house. It is all about simple ways to make memories together. Nothing is too crazy or out of the box, but each of them hold so many memories for our family. The kids loved doing these activities while watching the new Dolittle DVD. It was such a cute movie that was really about finding your family and embracing your individuality. The kids loved hearing the talking animals and going on an adventure through the film. I highly recommend picking the Dolittle DVD from Walmart or Walmart.com.
