Being a new mom can be completely overwhelming. Can I get an amen? Actually, being a mom in general can be overwhelming, but as the years go on, you get a little more experienced or at least thats what they say. I remember the day Brooke entered this world like it was yesterday, I had no idea I was even in labor, yet alone what to expect after. Everything was a rush of new and unknown. From swaddling, to diaper changing to breastfeeding, there were so many things to learn and add on the fact that you are severely sleep deprived through the process.
While I know that every baby and pregnancy is different, I feel a lot more equipped this time around. I feel like after going through it once, you really know how to help other new moms and yourself the second time around. Here are my best items for New Mom Survival Kit:
Starbucks® Caffè Latte K-Cup® Pod
Coffee is essential with the lack of sleep you will have. You need your energy and coffee was my best friend after Brooke was born (besides my husband, mom and mother in law – you get the point). The new Starbucks® Caffè Latte K-Cup® Pods are super delicious because they are made from milk, with no artificial flavors, and they come in 3 great Starbucks® signature flavors (Caramel, Mocha, and Vanilla) and 2 beloved Starbucks® seasonal flavors (Pumpkin Spice and Peppermint Mocha, available for a limited time). You can’t get much better than that! They are super easy to make. All you do is pour the flavor packet in your mug, and brew the pod. Once its done, simply stir and enjoy! You can find these at your local grocery store.
Tylenol
I used a lot of tylenol after I had Brooke for everything from headaches, to cramps to pain. It is nice to have on hand for the first couple weeks after your baby arrives.
Nursing Bra
MUST HAVE!! I was that girl, in Target, exhausted, having to try on nursing bras. I did not stock up on them beforehand, because I really didn’t think they were necessary. I was incredibly wrong. It was a miserable experience, so a comfy, basic nursing bra is a must in a survival kit.
Snacks
Lots and lots of snacks. Nursing makes you extremely hungry, think more hungry than pregnancy so snacks are much needed. Popcorn, nuts, trail mix, chocolate, the whole variety. The more, the better.
Water
Staying hydrated is really important the first few weeks when you get home from the hospital. It can be something you easily forget because you are so focused on everything else. Including a water bottle is great reminder to stay hydrated.
Chapstick
Because who doesn’t need chapstick? I don’t know why, but I used chapstick a lot after Brooke was born. It is great, always needed item to include.
Restaurant Gift Card
This is huge. Right after you have a baby, the last thing you want to do is cook. Restaurant gift cards to places that have delivery or to go are great. My parents picked up our favorite Mexican food one night and it was amazing, almost like a night out. Frozen meals might be good for some, but our household is pretty picky, so gift cards work way better.
While Starbucks® Caffè Latte K-Cup® Pods and gift cards are my favorite, I know there are lots of other great things that can be included. What would you include? Leave a comment and let me know!

Love this list! It’s perfect for me so I have an idea of what to have on hand for when our baby’s due. It’s our first and I’m in the last trimester! Also-love those lattes from Starbucks. My husband drinks them daily and I’ve tried it..I’m avoiding caffeine while pregnant, so I can’t wait for some caffeinated goodness!

being a new mom is hard. Been there, done that 4 times. haha. These are great tips for new moms, and YES please have the nursing bra before hand..you definitely don’t want to go hunting for that after baby comes. And new moms need all the help they can get for energy. like seriously, I’m still not recovered a year later HA! -client
