Wow! This first trimester went by so much faster than with Brooke, but it has been completely different. With Brooke, I could hardly tell I was pregnant. I didn’t gain that much weight the first 12 weeks, my stomach looked normal, nausea was light, and everything was great with some minor set backs for levels and food poisoning. However, this pregnancy has been completely different. I am exhausted, nauseous and hungry ALL THE TIME.
I started taking pictures at 4 weeks again this time since I did with Brooke. I wanted to be able to compare and see the difference between pregnancies. Boy, was everyone right that you “pop” way sooner with your second. I can tell that my body really knows what to do this time, I just “feel” pregnant this time around.
I went for blood work twice and had three appointments in the first trimester. When I found out I was pregnant, they had me come in for blood work that day and a few days later to watch my hormone levels. They then brought us in for our first sonogram. We felt like pros this time because we knew what to expect. At the first sonogram, it was so early that we really couldn’t see the baby yet, we could only see the sac and the doctor said everything looked fantastic. I got all my full workup labs done and thankfully, with this pregnancy, all of levels were perfect. They had us come back for another sonogram in a few weeks and this time, we got to see the heartbeat and our little growing babe. It is just so awesome when you get to see the heartbeat for the first time. The third appointment was pretty routine, they took my vitals and we heard the baby’s heartbeat on the doppler.
Overall, the first trimester was not very fun. I am ready to kick this nausea to the curb big time. But, I feel extremely blessed we are now in the 2nd trimester and we can’t wait to find out the gender!
